Controller Compatibility
The Super Retro Trio HD Plus is designed to be compatible with original controllers from the NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis systems. Aspect Ratio Settings
The console features a switch on the front panel to toggle between 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios. For an authentic retro gaming experience, it is generally recommended to use the 4:3 aspect ratio, as most classic games were designed for this display format. The 16:9 option will stretch the image to fill widescreen displays, which may distort the original graphics.
Game Cartridge Care
Proper care of your game cartridges is essential for optimal performance and longevity of both your games and the console. Dirty or corroded contacts are a common cause of games failing to load.
- Cleaning Contacts: Regularly clean cartridge contacts using a cotton swab lightly dampened with 91% isopropyl alcohol. Insert the swab into the cartridge slot and gently rub the contacts. Allow the contacts to dry completely before inserting the cartridge into the console.
- Proper Insertion/Removal: Insert and remove cartridges with care. Avoid excessive force. If a cartridge feels tight, gently wiggle it side-to-side while applying light pressure until it seats properly.
- Avoid Blowing: Do not blow into game cartridges. Moisture from your breath can cause corrosion over time.
Power Supply Guidelines
To prevent damage to your console, always use the factory-provided power supply (DC 5V, 1A). Using an incorrect voltage power supply can permanently damage the unit. While a 5V adapter with higher amperage (e.g., up to 3.5A) is generally safe as the console will only draw the required current, ensure the voltage is always 5V. It is also recommended to plug the power supply into a surge protector and disconnect the power supply from the console when not in use.
Troubleshooting
Game Not Loading / No Signal
- Clean Cartridge Contacts: Ensure game cartridge contacts are clean and free of debris. Refer to the 'Game Cartridge Care' section.
- Correct Console Mode: Verify that the console selection switch is set to the correct system (NES, SNES, or GEN) for the inserted game.
- Reseat Cartridge: Remove and re-insert the game cartridge, ensuring it is fully seated in the slot.
- Check TV Input: Confirm your television is set to the correct HDMI or AV input channel.
- Check Cables: Ensure all power and video cables are securely connected to both the console and the television.
Controller Not Responding
- Check Connection: Ensure the controller is firmly plugged into the correct port on the console (NES, SNES, or Genesis).
- Verify Controller Type: If using original controllers, ensure they are plugged into their respective system's ports.
