2. Important Safety Information
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, always follow basic safety precautions.
- Do not immerse the appliance, cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
- Ensure the appliance is placed on a stable, level surface away from hot surfaces.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to 'off', then remove plug from wall outlet.
- Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

5. Setup
Follow these steps for initial setup of your Smarter iCoffee machine.
- Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
- Clean: Wash the glass carafe, reusable filter, and filter basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Placement: Place the coffee maker on a clean, dry, and level surface.
- Power: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the water reservoir lid and fill with fresh, cold water up to the desired level (max 1.5L).
- Add Coffee Beans/Grounds:
- For whole beans: Fill the bean hopper with your preferred coffee beans.
- For pre-ground coffee: Place the reusable filter into the filter basket and add your desired amount of ground coffee.
- Install Smarter App: Download the 'Smarter' app from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store.
- Pair Device: Follow the in-app instructions to pair your Smarter iCoffee using BlinkUp technology. This involves holding your phone to the coffee maker's display during the pairing process.

6. Operating Instructions
Your Smarter iCoffee offers multiple ways to brew your coffee.
6.1 Manual Control
Use the control panel on the front of the machine:
- Ensure the water reservoir is filled and the carafe is in place.
- Use the buttons to select your desired number of cups, coffee strength (Weak, Medium, Strong), and whether to use whole beans (Grind & Brew) or pre-ground coffee (Filter).
- Press the 'Start' button to begin brewing.
6.2 Smarter App Control
The Smarter app provides comprehensive control over your coffee maker.

- Remote Brewing: Select coffee strength, cup size, and grind settings directly from the app, then initiate brewing from anywhere.
- Water Level Check: View the current water level in the reservoir via the app before brewing.

- Home Mode: Configure the coffee maker to start brewing automatically when you arrive home, using geo-location.
- Replenishment: The app can track your coffee usage and suggest when to reorder beans or grounds.

6.3 Smart Home Integration

- Amazon Alexa & Google Assistant: Use voice commands to start brewing coffee. Note that voice commands typically use the default settings configured in the Smarter app.
- IFTTT (If This Then That): Create custom automations with other smart devices. For example, have your coffee start brewing when your smart alarm goes off, or when you open your garage door.
6.4 Warming Plate Function
The integrated warming plate keeps your coffee warm for up to 40 minutes after brewing. This feature helps maintain coffee temperature without burning.

7. Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your coffee maker.
7.1 Daily Cleaning
- Carafe & Filter: After each use, remove the glass carafe and reusable filter. Wash them with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Filter Basket: Remove the filter basket and clean it.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
7.2 Grinder Cleaning
The built-in burr grinder should be cleaned periodically to prevent oil buildup and ensure consistent grinding. Refer to the detailed instructions in the app or the full manual for specific steps on disassembling and cleaning the grinder components.
7.3 Descaling
Depending on water hardness, mineral deposits may build up in your coffee maker. Descale the unit every 2-4 months using a descaling solution or a mixture of white vinegar and water. Follow the descaling instructions provided in the full manual.
