5. Installation Guide

5.1. Endpin Jack Installation

For permanent installation, the 1/4" female jack assembly can be mounted to the guitar's endpin. This process requires drilling and internal cable management.

  1. Remove the strings: Loosen and remove all guitar strings to access the soundhole and endblock.
  2. Drill a 15/32" hole: Carefully drill a 15/32" (approximately 11.9 mm) hole in the guitar's endblock. Ensure the hole is clean and free of debris.
  3. Insert and secure the strap button: Remove the strap button from the jack assembly. Insert the jack through the drilled hole from the inside of the guitar. Thread and hand-tighten the strap button onto the jack from the outside until secure.
  4. Manage the cable: Use the provided cable holders to secure the pickup cable along the inside of the guitar body. Remove the adhesive backing from the cable holders and place them as needed to prevent the cable from rattling or banging against the guitar's interior.

5.2. Pickup Installation

The SP31 pickup is designed for easy, non-invasive installation into the guitar's soundhole.

  1. Position the pickup: Gently slide the pickup into the soundhole, ensuring the "AMUMU" logo faces upwards.
  2. Align with strings: Center the pickup beneath the guitar strings, ensuring it is parallel to the bridge.
  3. Secure the pickup: The pickup features sponge cushions on its clips. Gently push the pickup until the clips securely grip the edges of the soundhole. Ensure it is stable and does not obstruct string movement.

6. Operation

The AMUMU SP31 is a passive pickup, meaning it does not require batteries or external power. Once installed, simply connect your guitar cable from the 1/4" female jack assembly to your amplifier, mixer, or audio interface. The pickup will convert the string vibrations into an electrical signal, amplifying your guitar's acoustic sound.

No controls or adjustments are needed on the pickup itself; all tone shaping and volume control will be managed through your connected audio equipment.

7. Care and Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the wooden casing with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the wood finish.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the pickup in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cable Care: Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the audio cable. Coil it loosely when storing to prevent damage to the internal wiring.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the pickup and cable for any signs of wear or damage.
