Installation Steps
- Mounting the Speedometer: Securely mount the speedometer unit to your motorcycle's dashboard or desired location. Refer to the provided wire diagram for specific mounting points and connections.
- Speed Sensor Installation: Install the speed sensor and magnets. The speed sensor is a Hall effect type. Ensure the magnets are properly aligned with the sensor for accurate speed readings.
- Wiring Connections: Connect the wiring harness to your motorcycle's electrical system. The unit operates on DC 12V. Pay close attention to the wire diagram for correct connections of power, ground, indicators, fuel level, and RPM signals.
- RPM Cable Connection:
- For Single cylinder and 2 cylinder motors, the RPM cable connects to the trigger signal line positive pole.
- For 4 cylinder motors, the RPM cable connects to the ignition coil output line.
Note: The RPM function is not compatible with Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) engines. If your motorcycle has an EFI engine, the RPM function will not work properly, though other functions will operate as intended.
- Initial Setup: After installation, power on the unit. You may need to adjust the wheel perimeter and pulse settings for accurate speed and distance measurements. Consult the detailed user manual for specific instructions on these adjustments.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your SAMDO Speedometer, follow these general maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the display and casing. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the screen or plastic.
- Connection Checks: Periodically inspect all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion. Loose connections can lead to intermittent functionality.
- Environmental Protection: While designed for motorcycle use, prolonged exposure to extreme weather conditions (heavy rain, direct sunlight, extreme temperatures) should be minimized to prevent potential damage.
- Sensor Care: Keep the speed sensor and magnets clean and free from debris to maintain accurate readings.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
- RPM Function Not Working: If your motorcycle has an Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) engine, the RPM function of this speedometer is not compatible and will not work. This unit is designed for carburetor motors.
- Inaccurate Speed/Distance Readings: Ensure the wheel perimeter and pulse settings are correctly configured according to your motorcycle's specifications. Refer to the user manual for adjustment procedures. Verify that the speed sensor and magnets are properly installed and aligned.
- Display Issues (e.g., blank screen, flickering): Check all power and ground connections for security. Ensure the unit is receiving stable 12V DC power. If issues persist, consult the wire diagram for potential misconnections.
- Indicators Not Lighting Up: Verify the wiring for the specific indicator (e.g., turn signals, high-beam, neutral) is correctly connected as per the wire diagram. Check the corresponding bulbs or LEDs on your motorcycle.
For persistent issues not covered here, please refer to the detailed user manual or contact SAMDO customer support.
