Installation Guide
Proper installation is crucial for the performance and safety of your amplifier. It is recommended to have this product professionally installed.
1. Mounting the Amplifier
Choose a secure, dry location in your vehicle that allows for adequate ventilation. Avoid mounting the amplifier directly on carpet or in enclosed spaces without airflow. Use the provided mounting screws to secure the amplifier firmly.

2. Power Connections
- BATT+ (Power): Connect a heavy gauge wire (e.g., 8 AWG or larger) directly from the positive terminal of your car battery to the BATT+ terminal on the amplifier. Install an in-line fuse holder with an appropriate fuse (not supplied) within 18 inches of the battery.
- REMOTE (Remote Turn-On): Connect a remote turn-on wire from your head unit's remote output to the REMOTE terminal on the amplifier. This wire signals the amplifier to turn on and off with your head unit.
- GROUND: Connect a heavy gauge wire (same as BATT+) from the GROUND terminal on the amplifier to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle's chassis. Ensure a good electrical connection.

3. Input Connections
- Low Level Inputs (RCA): For best audio quality, connect RCA cables from your head unit's pre-amp outputs to the CH1, CH2, CH3, and CH4 RCA inputs on the amplifier.
- High Level Inputs: If your head unit does not have RCA outputs, use the high-level input adapter (if supplied) to connect speaker wires from your head unit's speaker outputs to the amplifier's high-level input terminals.

4. Speaker Connections
Connect your speakers to the amplifier's speaker output terminals. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -). The BE1600.4 is a 4-channel amplifier, allowing for various configurations:
- 4-Channel Stereo: Connect four speakers (one to each channel).
- 3-Channel Mode (Bridged/Stereo): Bridge two channels for a subwoofer and use the remaining two channels for stereo speakers.
- 2-Channel Mode (Bridged): Bridge two pairs of channels to power two subwoofers or high-power speakers. Refer to the diagram on the amplifier for bridging instructions.
Operating Instructions
1. Variable Gain Control (Input Level)
The gain control adjusts the input sensitivity of the amplifier to match the output level of your head unit. It is not a volume control. Start with the gain set to minimum (MIN). Turn your head unit volume to about 75% of maximum. Slowly increase the amplifier's gain control until you hear slight distortion, then back it off slightly. This ensures the amplifier receives a clean signal.
2. Crossover Mode (CH1/2 Controls & CH3/4 Controls)
The BE1600.4 features selectable crossover modes for channels 1/2 and 3/4:
- FULL: Full range audio signal passes through. Use for full-range speakers.
- HP (High Pass): Allows frequencies above the selected HP Freq to pass. Use for component speakers or tweeters to prevent low frequencies from damaging them.
- LP (Low Pass): Allows frequencies below the selected LP Freq to pass. Use for subwoofers.
Adjust the LP Freq (50Hz-250Hz) or HP Freq (50Hz-250Hz) knobs to fine-tune the crossover point for your speakers or subwoofers.
3. Bass Boost (CH3/4 Controls)
The Bass Boost control (+0dB to +18dB) allows you to enhance low frequencies for channels 3 and 4. Use this feature sparingly and adjust carefully to avoid distortion or damage to your speakers/subwoofers.
4. Remote Subwoofer Control
Connect the optional remote subwoofer level control (if included) to the "REMOTE SUBWOOFER CONTROL" port. This allows convenient adjustment of the subwoofer output level from the driver's seat.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the amplifier's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Ventilation: Ensure the amplifier's cooling fins are free from dust and obstructions to maintain proper heat dissipation.
- Connections: Occasionally check all power, ground, and speaker connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No Power / Power LED Off | Blown fuse, poor power/ground connection, no remote turn-on signal. | Check in-line fuse and amplifier fuses. Verify power, ground, and remote wire connections. Ensure head unit is on. |
| Protect LED On | Overheating, speaker short circuit, impedance too low. | Allow amplifier to cool. Check speaker wiring for shorts. Verify speaker impedance is within amplifier's rated range (2-8 Ohms). |
| No Sound | No input signal, incorrect gain setting, speaker wires disconnected. | Check RCA or high-level input connections. Adjust gain. Verify speaker connections. Check head unit output. |
| Distorted Sound | Gain set too high, incorrect crossover settings, poor quality input signal. | Reduce gain. Adjust crossover frequencies. Ensure head unit output is clean. |
