3. Package Contents

Upon opening the package, ensure all items are present:

4. Controls and Functions

Familiarize yourself with the controls located on the unit:

  • Power On/Off Switch: Located on the side of the unit.
  • Volume Knob: Located on the side, adjusts audio output level.
  • Tuning Knob: Located on the top, used to tune AM/FM radio stations.
  • Play/Pause Button: Initiates or pauses CD/Bluetooth playback.
  • Stop Button: Halts CD/Bluetooth playback.
  • Skip/Search Buttons (Forward/Backward): Navigates tracks on CD/Bluetooth or scans radio frequencies.

5. Setup

5.1 Powering the Device

Your MD6949 boombox can be powered using either AC (alternating current) or DC (direct current) power.

  • AC Operation: Connect the included AC adapter to the AC input jack on the unit and then plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet.
  • DC Operation (Battery Power): For portable use, insert 6 'C' size batteries (not included) into the battery compartment located on the bottom of the unit. Ensure correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.

5.2 Initial Power On

Once powered, slide the Power On/Off switch to the 'On' position. The LED display will illuminate.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 CD Playback

  1. Slide the Mode/Function selector to 'CD'.
  2. Open the top-loading CD compartment cover.
  3. Carefully place a CD (CD-R/CD-RW compatible) onto the spindle with the label side facing up.
  4. Close the CD compartment cover securely.
  5. Press the Play/Pause button to begin playback.
  6. Use the Skip/Search buttons to navigate between tracks.
  7. Press the Repeat/Program button to activate repeat functions (e.g., repeat one track, repeat all tracks) or to program a custom playback order.
  8. Press the Stop button to end playback.

6.2 AM/FM Radio Operation

  1. Slide the Mode/Function selector to 'Radio'.
  2. Extend the telescopic antenna for optimal FM reception. For AM reception, rotate the unit for best signal.
  3. Rotate the Tuning knob to select your desired AM or FM radio station.
  4. Adjust the Volume knob to your preferred listening level.

6.3 Bluetooth Connectivity

  1. Slide the Mode/Function selector to 'Bluetooth'. The LED display will show 'BT' and flash, indicating it's in pairing mode.
  2. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (e.g., smartphone, tablet), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select 'MD6949' from the list of devices to pair.
  4. Once successfully paired, the 'BT' indicator on the LED display will stop flashing and remain solid.
  5. You can now play audio from your device through the boombox. Use your device's controls for track navigation and the boombox's Volume knob for volume adjustment.

6.4 Auxiliary Input

  1. Slide the Mode/Function selector to 'Aux-In'.
  2. Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the Aux-In port on the boombox.
  3. Connect the other end of the audio cable to the headphone jack or audio output of your external device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone).
  4. Play audio from your external device. The sound will be routed through the boombox speakers.
  5. Adjust the Volume knob on the boombox and/or your external device to control the audio level.

Note: The 3.5mm Aux-In port is NOT for headphones. It is an input for external audio sources.

7. Maintenance

  • Keep the unit away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive dust or moisture.
  • Clean the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • For optimal CD playback, keep the CD compartment clean and free of dust.
  • Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MD6949, refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Power: Ensure the AC adapter is securely plugged into both the unit and the wall outlet. If using batteries, check that they are inserted correctly and are not depleted.
  • No Sound: Check the volume level on both the boombox and your connected device (if applicable). Ensure the correct mode (CD, Aux, Bluetooth, Radio) is selected.
  • Poor Radio Reception: Extend and adjust the position of the telescopic antenna. Try moving the unit to a different location.
  • CD Skipping: Ensure the CD is clean and free of scratches. Make sure the unit is on a stable, flat surface.
  • Bluetooth Pairing Issues: Ensure the boombox is in Bluetooth pairing mode (BT flashing). Make sure your device's Bluetooth is enabled and within range (up to 35 feet). Try unpairing and re-pairing the device.
