1. Introduction

2. Setup

2.1 Connecting the Mouse

  1. Connect the detachable soft rubber cable to the micro-USB port on the front of the Rival 600 mouse.
  2. Plug the USB-A end of the cable into an available USB port on your computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux).
  3. The mouse will automatically be detected and basic functionality will be available.

2.2 Software Installation (SteelSeries Engine)

For full customization of DPI, RGB lighting, button remapping, and lift-off distance, install the SteelSeries Engine software.

  1. Visit the official SteelSeries website (steelseries.com/engine) to download the latest version of SteelSeries Engine.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software on your Windows (7 or newer) or Mac OSX (10.8 or newer) operating system.
  3. Once installed, launch the SteelSeries Engine application. Your Rival 600 mouse should be automatically detected.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Basic Mouse Functions

  • Left Click (Primary Button): Standard selection and interaction.
  • Right Click (Secondary Button): Context menus and alternative actions.
  • Scroll Wheel: Scroll up/down through documents and web pages. The scroll wheel is also clickable for a middle-mouse button function.

3.2 DPI/CPI Adjustment

The Rival 600 features a dedicated button (typically located behind the scroll wheel) to cycle through pre-set DPI (Dots Per Inch) or CPI (Counts Per Inch) sensitivity levels. These levels can be customized within the SteelSeries Engine software.

3.3 Side Buttons

The mouse is equipped with multiple programmable side buttons (typically three on the left side) that can be assigned to various in-game commands, macros, or system functions using the SteelSeries Engine software.

4. Customization

4.1 Weight System

The Rival 600 features a customizable weight system allowing you to adjust the mouse's weight and balance. The mouse comes with eight 4g weights.

  1. Gently remove the magnetic side panels of the mouse.
  2. Insert the desired 4g weights into the available slots on either side of the mouse.
  3. Reattach the magnetic side panels, ensuring they snap securely into place.

4.2 RGB Lighting

The Rival 600 features 8 independently controlled RGB lighting zones. These can be customized using the SteelSeries Engine software to match your setup or personal preference.

  • Open the SteelSeries Engine software.
  • Select your Rival 600 mouse from the device list.
  • Navigate to the 'Illumination' or 'RGB' section.
  • Choose from various lighting effects (e.g., solid color, color shift, breathe, reactive) and customize colors, brightness, and speed for each zone.

4.3 Button Remapping & Macros

All 7 buttons on the Rival 600 can be remapped and assigned custom functions or complex macros through the SteelSeries Engine software.

  • In the SteelSeries Engine software, select your Rival 600.
  • Go to the 'Buttons' or 'Key Bindings' section.
  • Click on the button you wish to customize and select a new function, macro, or launch application.
  • Save your changes to apply them to the mouse.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Disconnect the mouse from your computer before cleaning.

6.2 Inconsistent Tracking / Cursor Lag

  • Ensure your mousepad surface is clean and free of debris.
  • Clean the optical sensor on the bottom of the mouse with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Adjust the CPI/DPI settings using the dedicated button or SteelSeries Engine software.
  • Calibrate the lift-off distance settings in the SteelSeries Engine software.
