4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation and Charging
The GSB 18V-28 operates with Bosch Professional 18V Lithium-Ion batteries (not included). Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.
- To insert the battery: Align the battery pack with the base of the tool and slide it in until it clicks into place.
- To remove the battery: Press the release button on the battery pack and pull it out.
- Charge the battery using a compatible Bosch Professional 18V charger according to the charger's instructions.
4.2 Chuck and Bit Installation
The drill features a 13 mm keyless chuck.
- Open the chuck by rotating the front sleeve counter-clockwise until the jaws are wide enough to insert the drill bit.
- Insert the drill bit fully into the chuck.
- Tighten the chuck by rotating the front sleeve clockwise until the bit is securely clamped. For hammer drilling, ensure the bit is specifically designed for impact use.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Mode Selection
The GSB 18V-28 offers multiple operating modes:
- Screwdriving Mode: For driving screws. Adjust the torque setting ring to the desired level.
- Drilling Mode: For drilling in wood and metal. Set the mode selector to the drill symbol.
- Hammer Drilling Mode: For drilling in masonry. Set the mode selector to the hammer drill symbol.
5.2 Speed Selection
The tool has two speed settings:
- Speed 1 (Low): For larger diameter drilling, screwdriving, and applications requiring high torque.
- Speed 2 (High): For smaller diameter drilling and applications requiring higher speed.
Use the speed selector switch located on top of the tool to choose between speed 1 and speed 2.
