Operating Instructions
Brushing Modes
The ProtectiveClean 5100 offers three brushing modes:
- Clean Mode: Standard mode for a superior daily clean.
- White Mode: Designed to remove surface stains for brighter teeth.
- Gum Care Mode: Provides an extra minute of reduced-power brushing to gently massage gums.
Press the mode button to cycle through the available modes. The indicator light next to the selected mode will illuminate.

Pressure Sensor
The built-in pressure sensor detects when you are brushing too hard. If excessive pressure is applied, the handle will vibrate differently, and the pressure sensor light will illuminate to warn you. Reduce pressure to stop the warning.

SmarTimer and QuadPacer
The SmarTimer ensures you brush for the dental professional-recommended two minutes. The QuadPacer divides your brushing time into four 30-second intervals, prompting you to move to the next quadrant of your mouth for thorough cleaning.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Toothbrush
After each use, rinse the brush head and bristles thoroughly under running water. Wipe the handle with a damp cloth. Do not submerge the handle in water.
Brush Head Replacement
The ProtectiveClean 5100 features BrushSync technology, which tracks brush head usage and brushing pressure. A light on the handle will illuminate, and a short beep will sound when it is time to replace the brush head, typically every three months, or sooner if bristles are splayed.
Troubleshooting
- Toothbrush not turning on: Ensure the toothbrush is fully charged. If the issue persists, try cleaning the charging contacts on both the handle and the charger.
- Weak vibration or reduced performance: This may indicate a low battery. Place the toothbrush on the charger for a full charge cycle. If the brush head is old, replace it as per the BrushSync reminder.
- Pressure sensor light constantly on: You may be applying too much pressure. Adjust your brushing technique. If the light remains on without pressure, contact customer support.
- Unusual noise: Ensure the brush head is securely attached. If the noise persists, it may indicate an internal issue.
