Package Contents
- 1 x Promate Sea Slender Mask (MK275)
- 1 x Promate Cobra Dry Snorkel (SK680)
Setup
1. Preparing the Mask
Before first use, new masks often have a thin silicone film on the inside of the lens from the manufacturing process. This film can cause fogging. To remove it, gently scrub the inside of the lenses with a non-abrasive toothpaste or a specialized mask defogger. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water.
2. Fitting the Mask
- Place the mask gently on your face without the strap, ensuring the skirt forms a seal around your face. Inhale slightly through your nose; the mask should suction to your face and stay in place without holding it.
- Pull the strap over your head, resting it high on the back of your head, above your ears.
- Adjust the strap tension using the buckles on both sides. The strap should be snug enough to hold the mask in place, but not so tight that it causes discomfort or leaves deep marks on your face. Over-tightening can cause leaks.

3. Attaching the Snorkel
The Promate Cobra Dry Snorkel features a quick slip-in snorkel keeper. Attach the snorkel keeper to the left side of your mask strap. Position the snorkel so that the mouthpiece is comfortable in your mouth and the top of the snorkel is above your head when in the water.
Operating Instructions
1. Breathing with the Snorkel
Place the silicone mouthpiece comfortably in your mouth, biting gently on the tabs. Seal your lips around the mouthpiece to prevent water entry. Breathe slowly and deeply through your mouth. The Cobra Dry Snorkel's patented upper valve will prevent water from entering when submerged, and allow air to flow freely when at the surface.

2. Clearing the Snorkel
If water enters the snorkel (e.g., from waves or improper submersion), exhale sharply through the mouthpiece. The silicone purge valve at the bottom of the snorkel will allow water to escape easily.
3. Equalizing Mask Pressure
As you descend in water, pressure will build up inside your mask. To equalize this pressure and prevent discomfort, pinch your nose through the mask's nose pocket and gently blow air out through your nose. The Promate Sea Slender Mask features dimples on both sides of the nose pocket, designed to hug the user's nose for effortless equalization.

4. Using the Signal Whistle
The Promate Cobra Dry Snorkel is equipped with a built-in signal whistle. In case of emergency or to attract attention, blow firmly into the whistle housing located on the snorkel.
Maintenance
1. After Each Use
- Rinse both the mask and snorkel thoroughly with fresh, clean water to remove salt, chlorine, and sand.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the silicone and lens.
- Allow the equipment to air dry completely in a cool, shaded area, away from direct sunlight.
2. Storage
- Store your mask and snorkel in a protective case or bag to prevent scratches and damage.
- Keep the equipment in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight, which can degrade silicone over time.
- Ensure no heavy objects are placed on top of the mask or snorkel during storage.
Troubleshooting
Mask Leaks
- Check Fit: Ensure the mask skirt is properly sealed against your face without hair or snorkel strap interfering.
- Strap Tension: The strap should be snug, not overly tight. Over-tightening can distort the skirt and cause leaks.
- Facial Hair: Facial hair (e.g., mustaches) can break the seal. Consider applying a thin layer of silicone grease or petroleum jelly to the area where the mask skirt meets the skin.
- Damage: Inspect the silicone skirt for tears or damage.
Mask Fogging
- Pre-treatment: Ensure the initial silicone film has been removed (see "Preparing the Mask" section).
- Defogger: Apply a commercial anti-fog solution or a small amount of baby shampoo (diluted) to the inside of the lenses before each use. Rinse lightly.
- Saliva: A traditional method is to spit into the mask, rub it around, and rinse lightly.
Snorkel Water Entry
- Dry Top Check: Ensure the dry top mechanism at the top of the snorkel is clean and free of debris, allowing it to seal properly when submerged.
- Mouthpiece Seal: Make sure your lips form a tight seal around the mouthpiece.
- Purge Valve: Check the purge valve at the bottom for any obstructions or damage that might prevent it from sealing.
