Important Safety Instructions

  • DO NOT probe with conductive objects.
  • DO NOT charge damaged battery packs. Replace immediately.
  • DO NOT expose to rain or wet conditions.
  • DO NOT open the charger. There are no serviceable parts inside.
  • Use this charger ONLY with the specified battery types (NiCad & NiMh).
  • Ensure proper ventilation during charging.

Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the charger from its packaging. Inspect for any damage that may have occurred during shipping.
  2. Power Connection: Plug the charger into a standard 100V-240V AC electrical outlet. The charger is designed for universal voltage input.
  3. Initial Check: The charger's indicator light may briefly illuminate upon connection, indicating it is ready for use.

Operating Instructions

  1. Battery Compatibility: This charger is compatible with DeWalt 7.2V, 9.6V, 12V, 14.4V, and 18V NiCad and NiMh batteries. It is NOT compatible with Lithium-ion batteries.
  2. Inserting the Battery: Align the battery with the charging slot on the charger. Slide the battery firmly into place until it clicks securely.
  3. Charging Process: Once the battery is properly inserted, the charger's indicator light will show the charging status. A solid red light typically indicates charging is in progress. Refer to the charger's label for specific light patterns and their meanings (e.g., fully charged, hot/cold pack delay).
  4. Charging Time: The DC9310 charger provides 1-hour fast charging for compatible XRP 7.2V to 18V NiCD and NiMH batteries.
  5. Removing the Battery: Once charging is complete (indicated by the light pattern), press the release button on the battery (if applicable) and slide it out of the charger.

Maintenance

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your charger, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Battery Not Charging:
    • Ensure the charger is securely plugged into a working power outlet.
    • Verify the battery is correctly seated in the charging slot.
    • Check if the battery is compatible (NiCad/NiMh, 7.2V-18V). Lithium-ion batteries are not supported.
    • If the battery is too hot or too cold, the charger may enter a 'hot/cold pack delay' mode. Allow the battery to reach a moderate temperature before attempting to charge again.
  • Indicator Light Not Functioning:
    • Ensure the charger is receiving power. Try plugging it into a different outlet.
    • If the charger is completely unresponsive, it may require service.
  • Safety Features: The DC9310 charger is equipped with multiple safety protections, including over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, and charge protection. If an issue triggers one of these protections, the charger may stop operating or display a specific error light pattern.
