1. Introduction

3. Hardware Overview

3.1 Front Panel

4. Setup Guide

4.1 Connecting the Hardware

  1. Power Off: Ensure your computer and the modem router are powered off.
  2. Connect DSL: Connect one end of the DSL cable to the DSL port on the modem router and the other end to your phone line's DSL port (or splitter).
  3. Connect Ethernet (Optional): For a wired connection, connect one end of an Ethernet cable to a LAN port on the modem router and the other end to your computer's Ethernet port.
  4. Power On: Connect the power adapter to the modem router's power port and plug it into a power outlet. Press the On/Off button if necessary.
  5. Wait for LEDs: Wait for the Power, DSL, and Internet LEDs to become solid green, indicating a successful connection.

4.2 Quick Setup via Web Browser

  1. Access Router: Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox) and type http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar.
  2. Login: Enter the default username and password (both usually admin, or as printed on the label on the bottom of the router).
  3. Run Quick Setup: Follow the on-screen instructions of the Quick Setup Wizard to configure your internet connection (VDSL/ADSL settings) and wireless network (Wi-Fi name and password).
  4. Save Settings: Save your configurations and restart the router if prompted.

4.3 Setup via TP-Link Tether App

The TP-Link Tether app provides an easy way to set up and manage your router from your mobile device.

  1. Download App: Download the TP-Link Tether app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

5.1 Wireless Connectivity

The Archer VR300 supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) for flexible and high-speed connections.

7.1 No Internet Access

  • LED Status: Verify that the Power, DSL, and Internet LEDs are solid green. If not, check connections or contact your ISP.
  • Restart Devices: Restart your modem router and connected devices.
  • ISP Settings: Confirm that your VDSL/ADSL settings (VPI/VCI, encapsulation, etc.) are correctly configured according to your ISP's requirements.

7.2 Slow Wireless Speed

  • Interference: Move the router away from potential sources of interference.
  • Channel Selection: Try changing the wireless channel in the router's settings to avoid congestion.
  • Distance: Ensure your device is within a reasonable range of the router.
  • Band Selection: Connect to the 5GHz band for faster speeds if your device supports it.

7.3 Forgotten Wi-Fi Password or Login Password

  • Check Label: The default Wi-Fi password and router login details are usually printed on a label on the bottom of the router.
  • Reset Router: If you have changed the password and forgotten it, you may need to perform a factory reset. Press and hold the Reset button on the rear panel for 5-10 seconds while the router is powered on. This will revert all settings to factory defaults, including Wi-Fi and login passwords. You will then need to reconfigure the router.
