4.2. Side Handle Attachment
The adjustable 3-position side handle can be attached to either side of the grinder's head or on top, depending on your preference and the task at hand. Simply screw the handle into the desired threaded opening until it is firmly secured. This allows for optimal leverage and comfort for both left-handed and right-handed users.
4.3. Guard Adjustment
The tool features a tool-free guard adjustment mechanism. To adjust the guard, press the release button located near the guard and rotate the guard to the desired position. Release the button to lock the guard in place. Ensure the guard is positioned to deflect sparks and debris away from you and others.
4.4. Disc Installation and Removal
To install a disc, first ensure the tool is disconnected from its power source (battery removed). Press and hold the spindle lock button to prevent the spindle from rotating. Place the inner flange onto the spindle, followed by the desired 4-1/2 inch grinding or cutting disc. Ensure the disc is properly seated. Then, thread the outer flange onto the spindle and tighten it using the onboard spanner wrench. The spanner wrench is conveniently stored in the side handle. To remove a disc, reverse these steps.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Powering On/Off
To start the grinder, slide the safety button forward and then push the power switch up. The tool will begin operating. To turn off the tool, simply release the power switch. The safety button will automatically return to the locked position, preventing accidental startup.
5.2. Grinding and Cutting Techniques
Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves. Secure your workpiece firmly. For grinding, apply light, even pressure and move the tool smoothly across the surface. For cutting, ensure the cutting disc is aligned with your desired cut line and apply steady, controlled pressure. Avoid forcing the tool, as this can lead to kickback or damage to the disc and tool.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your tool.
- Cleaning: Keep the tool's air vents clean and free of debris to prevent overheating. Use a soft brush or compressed air. Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals.
- Disc Inspection: Before each use, inspect discs for cracks, chips, or excessive wear. Replace damaged discs immediately.
- Guard Inspection: Ensure the guard is securely attached and free from damage.
- Battery Care: Store batteries in a cool, dry place. Do not expose them to extreme temperatures.
- Brushless Motor: The brushless motor requires no carbon brush replacement, simplifying maintenance.
