2. Product Overview

3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the rotary hammer drill and all accessories from the carrying case. Inspect the tool for any signs of damage during transit. Ensure all components listed in the package contents are present:

3.2 Attaching the Auxiliary Handle
The auxiliary handle provides additional control and stability during operation. To attach:
- Loosen the auxiliary handle by rotating it counter-clockwise.
- Slide the handle over the chuck end of the tool until it rests in the desired position.
- Rotate the handle clockwise to tighten it securely. Ensure it is firmly fixed before use.

3.3 Inserting and Removing Drill Bits/Chisels
This tool uses SDS-Plus type bits. To insert:
- Clean the shank of the drill bit or chisel.
- Pull back the chuck sleeve.
- Insert the bit into the chuck until it clicks into place.
- Release the chuck sleeve. Pull on the bit to ensure it is securely locked. There will be a slight play, which is normal for SDS-Plus systems.
To remove:
- Pull back the chuck sleeve firmly.
- Remove the drill bit or chisel.
- Release the chuck sleeve.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Function Selection
The GY-RH-40040-1 offers three operating modes, selected via the mode selector switch located on the side of the tool:
- Drill Mode (Rotation Only): For drilling in wood, metal, and plastics without impact.
- Impact Drill Mode (Rotation with Hammering): For drilling in concrete, masonry, and stone.
- Hammer Mode (Hammering Only): For chiseling, chipping, and light demolition work. This mode also allows for angle adjustment of the chisel.
Caution: Always ensure the tool is switched off and unplugged before changing the operating mode.
4.2 Trigger and Lock Button

- Starting the Tool: Press the trigger switch. The tool features variable speed, meaning the speed increases with greater trigger pressure.
- Continuous Operation: For extended use, press the lock button while the trigger is fully depressed. Release the trigger to stop continuous operation.
- Stopping the Tool: Release the trigger switch. If the lock button is engaged, press the trigger fully and then release it to disengage the lock.
4.3 Reversible Function
A reversible switch (usually a lever near the trigger) allows you to change the direction of rotation. This is useful for removing jammed drill bits or driving/removing screws (with appropriate accessories).
Caution: Only change the direction of rotation when the tool is completely stopped.
4.4 Using the Depth Gauge
The depth gauge helps to drill holes to a precise depth. To set:
- Insert the drill bit into the chuck.
- Loosen the auxiliary handle.
- Slide the depth gauge through the hole in the auxiliary handle.
- Position the tip of the drill bit against the workpiece.
- Adjust the depth gauge until its end touches the workpiece, then pull it back by the desired drilling depth.
- Tighten the auxiliary handle to secure the depth gauge.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your tool.
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the tool's ventilation slots and housing with a soft brush or compressed air. Do not use water or chemical cleaning agents.
- Chuck Maintenance: Keep the chuck clean and free of dust and debris. Apply a small amount of grease to the SDS-Plus bit shanks before insertion to reduce wear.
- Power Cord Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord for any damage, cuts, or fraying. If damaged, have it replaced by a qualified service technician.
- Storage: Store the tool and its accessories in the original carrying case in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.
