5. Setup and Installation
Installation of this remote control system involves electrical wiring and connection to a gas appliance. It is strongly recommended that installation be performed by a qualified service technician.
- Prepare the Fireplace: Ensure the fireplace appliance is completely off and cool. Disconnect the main power supply to the fireplace.
- Install Receiver: The receiver unit should be placed in a location where it is protected from extreme heat and moisture, typically within the fireplace's control area or behind an access panel. Plug the receiver into a standard 110-120 VAC outlet.
- Wire the Receiver: Connect the receiver to your fireplace's gas valve system using the provided wiring harness. Refer to your fireplace appliance's manual for specific wiring diagrams. The receiver has terminals labeled 'OFF', 'REMOTE', 'ON', 'GROUND', 'VALVE', and 'FLAME CONTROL'. Ensure all connections are secure and correct.
- Install Batteries in Transmitter: Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote control and insert the two AAA batteries, observing correct polarity.
- Match Security Codes: The remote receiver's code must be matched to that of the transmitter. Follow the specific instructions provided in the included installation guide for the code learning procedure. This typically involves pressing a 'LEARN' button on the receiver and then a button on the transmitter within a short timeframe.
- Test System: Once installation is complete and codes are matched, restore power to the fireplace and test the remote control's functions.
