4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the performance and longevity of your strobe lights. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified professional if you are unfamiliar with automotive electrical systems.

4.1 Mounting

  1. Choose Location: Select a flat, stable surface on your vehicle or equipment for mounting. Ensure the location allows for optimal visibility and does not obstruct other vehicle functions.
  2. Mark Drilling Points: Use the light unit as a template to mark the two mounting screw holes.
  3. Drill Holes: Carefully drill pilot holes at the marked points. Ensure the drill bit size is appropriate for the provided screws.
  4. Attach Gasket: Place the rubber gasket behind the light unit. This gasket helps create a waterproof seal and reduces vibration.
  5. Secure Light: Align the light unit with the drilled holes, insert the screws, and secure with the nuts from the backside. Do not overtighten.

4.2 Wiring

The light unit typically has three wires: Red (Positive), Black (Negative), and Yellow (Pattern Selector/Sync). Refer to the wiring diagram below for general guidance. Specific wiring may vary based on your vehicle's electrical system and desired functionality.

  • Red Wire: Connect to a 12V DC positive power source (e.g., vehicle's battery positive terminal or an accessory fuse).
  • Black Wire: Connect to a negative/ground point (e.g., vehicle chassis or battery negative terminal).
  • Yellow Wire: This wire is typically used to change flash patterns or synchronize multiple lights. Momentarily touch the yellow wire to the red wire (positive) to cycle through flash patterns. For synchronization, connect the yellow wires of multiple lights together.

Warning: Ensure all connections are secure and insulated to prevent short circuits. Disconnect the vehicle's battery before beginning any electrical work.

5. Operating Instructions

Once properly installed and wired, the strobe lights are ready for operation.

  • Power On/Off: The lights will activate when power is supplied to the red wire and deactivated when power is removed. This can be controlled via a switch connected to the power source (not included).
  • Changing Flash Patterns: To cycle through the available flash patterns, momentarily touch the yellow wire to the red (positive) wire. Each brief touch will advance to the next pattern. The lights typically have a memory function that recalls the last selected pattern when powered off and on.
  • Synchronization: If installing multiple lights and desiring synchronized flashing, connect the yellow wires of all lights together. Ensure all lights are powered from the same source.

6. Maintenance

These strobe lights are designed for durability and require minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the lens with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and debris that may obstruct light output. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect wiring for any signs of wear, fraying, or corrosion. Ensure all mounting hardware remains secure.
  • Waterproof Seal: While waterproof, avoid directing high-pressure water jets directly at the light unit, especially at the wire entry point, during cleaning.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your strobe lights, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
