1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your Westinghouse WGen3600DF Dual Fuel Portable Generator. The WGen3600DF is designed to provide reliable power using either gasoline or propane, featuring a 212cc OHV engine, electric start, and RV-ready outlets. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the generator.
2. Safety Information
Operating a generator safely is critical to prevent injury or property damage. Always follow these guidelines:
- Carbon Monoxide Hazard: Generators produce carbon monoxide (CO), an odorless, colorless, and deadly gas. Operate the generator outdoors only, far away from windows, doors, and vents. Never operate it inside a home, garage, basement, crawl space, or other enclosed area.
- Fire Hazard: Gasoline and propane are highly flammable. Refuel only when the engine is off and cool. Store fuel in approved containers in a well-ventilated area, away from ignition sources. Do not overfill the fuel tank.
- Electrical Shock Hazard: Never operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure all electrical connections are dry and properly grounded. Do not connect the generator directly to your home's electrical system without a transfer switch installed by a qualified electrician.
- Hot Surfaces: The generator's engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for some time after shutdown. Avoid contact with hot surfaces to prevent burns.
- Moving Parts: Keep hands, feet, hair, and clothing away from moving parts to prevent injury.
- Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the generator at all times.
Your Westinghouse WGen3600DF includes safety features such as automatic low oil shutdown, overload protection, and GFCI outlets to enhance user safety.
3. Setup and Assembly
Your generator requires minimal assembly. The package includes a propane regulator hose, handle, heat-resistant plastic wheels with never-flat polyurethane tires, engine oil, a funnel, a tool kit, and a user manual.

3.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage during shipping. Report any damage immediately to your dealer.
3.2 Wheel Kit and Handle Installation
Attach the wheels and handle according to the diagrams in your included printed manual. Ensure all fasteners are securely tightened.
3.3 Battery Connection
Connect the battery terminals. It is recommended to connect the battery before attaching the wheels for easier access. The generator comes with a 12V battery included.

3.4 Adding Engine Oil
Before first use, add the provided 4-stroke engine oil. Use the included funnel. Be aware that the oil fills quickly, so pour slowly and allow time for the oil to drain into the engine. Ensure the generator is on a level surface when checking and adding oil.

3.5 Fueling the Generator
The WGen3600DF operates on either gasoline or propane.
- Gasoline: Fill the 4-gallon fuel tank with fresh, unleaded gasoline. Do not overfill. Always check the fuel gauge.
- Propane: Connect the provided propane regulator hose to a standard propane tank and to the generator's propane inlet. Ensure all connections are secure.

4.1 Starting the Generator
- Placement: Ensure the generator is on a level surface outdoors, away from any structures, and in a well-ventilated area.
- Fuel Selection: Turn the fuel selector switch to either GASOLINE or PROPANE depending on your fuel source.
- Engine Switch: Turn the engine run/stop switch to the RUN position.
- Choke: If starting a cold engine, apply the choke.
- Start:
- Electric Start: Press and hold the PUSH BUTTON ELECTRIC START until the engine starts.
- Remote Start: Use the provided wireless remote key fob to start the generator.
- Recoil Start: If electric start is unavailable, pull the recoil handle firmly and steadily until the engine starts.
- Choke Adjustment: Once the engine starts, gradually open the choke.

4.2 Connecting Electrical Devices
Once the generator is running, you can connect your electrical devices. The WGen3600DF features:
- One 5-20R 120V Duplex Outlet (20 Amp)
- One RV-Ready TT-30R 30 Amp Outlet (120V)
- One L5-30R 30 Amp Outlet (120V)
Ensure the total wattage of connected devices does not exceed the generator's running wattage (3600W on gasoline, 3240W on propane) to prevent overload. The generator is equipped with overload protection and circuit breakers.

4.3 Stopping the Generator
- Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator.
- Allow the generator to run for a few minutes without load to cool down.
- Turn the engine run/stop switch to the STOP position.
- If using propane, close the valve on the propane tank.
- Turn off the power toggle switch to prevent draining the starting battery if the generator will not be used for an extended period.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your generator.
- Engine Oil: Check engine oil level before each use. Change oil according to the schedule in the full user manual. The generator features automatic low oil shutdown to protect the engine.
- Air Filter: Inspect and clean the air filter regularly. Replace if damaged.
- Spark Plug: Inspect and clean the spark plug periodically. Replace if necessary.
- Fuel System: For gasoline operation, use a fuel stabilizer if storing the generator for more than 30 days. Drain the carburetor and fuel tank for long-term storage.
- Battery: The starting battery requires periodic charging. The generator comes with a trickle charger for this purpose. Ensure the battery is fully charged, especially before extended storage or periods of non-use.
- General Cleaning: Keep the generator clean and free of debris.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter. For more detailed troubleshooting, refer to the complete user manual.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine will not start | No fuel, low oil, battery discharged, choke not set, spark plug issue. | Check fuel level (gasoline/propane). Add oil if low. Charge battery. Adjust choke. Inspect/replace spark plug. |
| No power output | Circuit breaker tripped, generator overloaded, faulty connection. | Reset circuit breakers. Reduce electrical load. Check all connections. |
| Engine runs rough | Stale fuel, dirty air filter, spark plug issue. | Use fresh fuel. Clean/replace air filter. Inspect/replace spark plug. |
| Automatic shutdown | Low oil level, engine overheating, overload. | Check and add engine oil. Allow generator to cool. Reduce load. |
