4. Setup and First Use

- Fill the water tank with fresh water up to the MAX indication.

4.3 Water Hardness Test and AquaClean Filter Installation
The AquaClean filter reduces limescale and extends the descaling interval.

- Use the provided water hardness test strip to determine your local water hardness.
- Set the water hardness level in the machine's menu.
- Prepare the AquaClean filter as per its separate instructions (soak in water).
- Insert the AquaClean filter into the water tank.
- Activate the AquaClean filter in the machine's menu.
4.4 Filling the Bean Hopper

- Open the lid of the bean hopper.
- Pour whole coffee beans into the hopper. Do not use ground coffee, instant coffee, or caramelized beans.
- Close the lid securely.
5. Operating the Coffee Machine
5.1 Turning On/Off
- Press the power button to turn the machine on or off. The machine performs an automatic rinsing cycle when turned on or off.
5.2 Preparing Coffee Beverages

- Place a cup under the coffee spout.
- Select your desired beverage (e.g., Espresso, Coffee) from the control panel.
- Adjust coffee strength and volume if desired using the dedicated buttons or menu options.
- Press the start button to begin brewing.
5.3 Preparing Milk-Based Beverages
For Cappuccino or Latte Macchiato, use the integrated milk carafe.
- Fill the milk carafe with fresh milk up to the indicated level.
- Attach the milk carafe to the machine.
- Place a cup under the milk spout and coffee spout.
- Select your desired milk beverage (e.g., Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato).
- Adjust milk foam volume and coffee strength/volume if desired.
- Press the start button. The machine will first dispense milk foam, then coffee.
5.4 Adjusting Grind Setting

- Adjust the grind setting only when the grinder is operating.
- Turn the grind adjustment knob inside the bean hopper to your desired fineness. Finer grind for stronger coffee, coarser for milder.
6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal taste and extends the lifespan of your machine.
6.1 Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray and Coffee Grounds Container: Empty and rinse daily.
- Milk Carafe: After each use, perform the quick clean function. For thorough cleaning, disassemble and rinse all parts under running water.
6.2 Weekly Cleaning

- Brew Group: Turn off the machine and remove the brew group. Rinse it thoroughly under lukewarm running water until no coffee residue is visible. Allow it to air dry before reinserting.
- Water Tank: Rinse the water tank and its lid.
6.3 Descaling Procedure
The machine will indicate when descaling is required. Use only Philips descaling solution.
- Follow the on-screen instructions for the descaling cycle.
- The process typically involves emptying the water tank, adding descaling solution, and running a cycle, followed by rinsing cycles.
6.4 AquaClean Filter Replacement
Replace the AquaClean filter when indicated by the machine, typically after 3 months or 5000 cups, depending on water hardness and usage.
- Remove the old filter from the water tank.
- Prepare and install a new AquaClean filter as described in Section 4.3.
