FiTech EASY STREET 600HP EFI System

Model: 30005 - Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your FiTech EASY STREET 600HP EFI system, model 30005. Please read this manual thoroughly before attempting any installation or operation to ensure proper function and safety. This system is designed to provide modern electronic fuel injection capabilities to a wide range of engines, enhancing performance and efficiency.

1.1 Safety Information

Always observe standard automotive safety precautions. Disconnect the battery before working on the electrical system. Ensure proper ventilation when working with fuel. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Consult a qualified professional if you are unsure about any installation steps.

2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully unpack all components and compare them against the packing list. Inspect all parts for any signs of shipping damage. If any components are missing or damaged, contact your dealer immediately.

2.2 Component Identification

Familiarize yourself with the main components of the EFI system:

  • EFI Throttle Body: The central unit housing the injectors, sensors, and throttle plates.
  • Wiring Harness: Connects the throttle body to the vehicle's electrical system and various sensors.
  • Handheld Controller: Used for initial setup, tuning, and diagnostics.
  • Oxygen Sensor (O2 Sensor): Measures exhaust gas oxygen content for fuel mixture adjustments.
  • Coolant Temperature Sensor: Provides engine temperature data to the ECU.
  • Fuel Pressure Regulator: Maintains consistent fuel pressure.

2.3 Installation Steps

  1. Prepare the Engine: Ensure the engine is cool and the battery is disconnected. Remove the existing carburetor and clean the manifold surface.
  2. Mount the EFI Throttle Body: Place the provided gasket on the intake manifold and carefully set the EFI throttle body in place. Secure it with the appropriate bolts, tightening them evenly.
  3. Install Sensors: Install the oxygen sensor into the exhaust system (ensure proper bung placement). Install the coolant temperature sensor into a suitable port on the engine.
  4. Fuel System Connection: Connect the fuel supply and return lines to the EFI throttle body. Ensure a high-pressure fuel pump and return-style fuel system are in place, capable of delivering 58 PSI.
  5. Wiring Connections: Connect the main wiring harness to the EFI throttle body. Route the harness carefully, avoiding hot or moving parts. Connect the power, ground, ignition, and other necessary wires as per the wiring diagram (refer to the separate wiring diagram provided with your unit).
  6. Handheld Controller Connection: Connect the handheld controller to its designated port on the wiring harness.

2.4 Initial Configuration

Once all physical connections are made, reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition to the 'ON' position (do not start the engine). The handheld controller will guide you through the initial setup wizard. This typically involves entering basic engine parameters such as engine displacement (CID), number of cylinders, and desired idle RPM. Follow the on-screen prompts carefully.

3. Operating

3.1 Starting the Engine

After initial configuration, turn the ignition to the 'START' position. The EFI system will automatically prime the fuel pump. The engine should start quickly. Allow the engine to reach operating temperature. The system will begin its self-learning process, optimizing the fuel map based on sensor inputs.

3.2 Basic Operation

The FiTech EFI system is designed for 'set it and forget it' operation. Once the initial setup and self-learning are complete, the system continuously adjusts fuel delivery and ignition timing (if applicable) for optimal performance under varying conditions. Monitor the handheld controller for real-time data such as RPM, coolant temperature, and air/fuel ratio.

3.3 Advanced Tuning (Optional)

For advanced users, the handheld controller provides access to various tuning parameters. These include idle RPM, acceleration enrichment, fan control, and more. Refer to the detailed handheld controller manual for specific instructions on advanced tuning. Exercise caution when adjusting these parameters, as incorrect settings can affect engine performance or cause damage.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Regular Checks

Perform the following checks periodically:

  • Inspect all wiring connections for looseness or corrosion.
  • Check fuel lines for leaks or damage.
  • Ensure the air filter is clean and unobstructed.
  • Monitor fuel pressure (if equipped with a gauge).

4.2 Cleaning

Keep the exterior of the EFI throttle body clean. Use a soft cloth and mild cleaner if necessary. Avoid spraying water directly onto electrical components. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

4.3 Storage

If the vehicle will be stored for an extended period, ensure the fuel system is stabilized or drained according to standard automotive practices to prevent fuel degradation and system clogging.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Common Issues and Solutions

SymptomPossible CauseSolution
Engine Cranks but Won't StartNo fuel pressure, no spark, wiring issue, incorrect initial setup.Check fuel pump operation, verify spark, inspect wiring harness connections, re-run initial setup wizard.
Poor Idle / StallingVacuum leak, incorrect idle RPM setting, dirty throttle body, O2 sensor issue.Check for vacuum leaks, adjust idle RPM via handheld, clean throttle body, check O2 sensor connection.
Engine Runs Rich/LeanO2 sensor malfunction, fuel pressure issue, exhaust leak near O2 sensor.Verify O2 sensor function, check fuel pressure, repair exhaust leaks.
Handheld Controller Not RespondingLoose connection, power issue.Check handheld cable connection, verify power supply to the EFI system.

5.2 Error Codes

The handheld controller will display diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) if the system detects a fault. Refer to the handheld controller manual for a complete list of codes and their meanings. Note down any displayed codes before contacting support.
