1. Introduction

The C. Crane CC Vector Extended Long Range WiFi Receiver System is designed to capture a distant WiFi signal and re-broadcast it as a new, local WiFi network. This system is ideal for extending internet access to remote locations such as barns, shops, offices, or other buildings that are out of range of a primary router. It works with a wide array of devices, including gaming consoles, Windows, Android, Apple, iPhone, Smart TVs, and internet radios.

The system utilizes a directional 15 dBi parabolic antenna for receiving the distant signal and a CC Vector unit for repeating the signal. It primarily operates on the 2.4 GHz WiFi band, which is suitable for long-distance transmission, and also supports 5 GHz for shorter ranges.

2. What's in the Box

Upon unpacking your C. Crane CC Vector system, please ensure all the following components are present:

  • CC DX Mile Long Range WiFi Receiver (Parabolic Antenna)
  • CC Vector WiFi Repeater
  • AC Power Adapter
  • 30' USB Split Cable
  • Stainless Steel hardware for mounting the antenna
  • Sealant
  • Silicone Grease

Note: A mast for antenna mounting is not included and must be sourced separately.

3. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your CC Vector Extended Long Range WiFi Receiver System:

  1. Antenna Placement:

    Mount the directional 15 dBi parabolic antenna outdoors in a fixed location, ensuring a clear line-of-sight to the distant WiFi source. Use the provided stainless steel hardware for secure mounting. Apply sealant and silicone grease as instructed in the separate antenna mounting guide (if provided) to protect connections from weather.

  2. Cable Connection:

    Connect the 30' USB Split Cable from the outdoor antenna to the CC Vector WiFi Repeater unit indoors. Ensure connections are secure and protected.

  3. Powering the CC Vector:

    Connect the AC Power Adapter to the CC Vector WiFi Repeater unit and plug it into a standard electrical outlet.

  4. Initial Configuration:

    Once powered on, the CC Vector will begin broadcasting its own WiFi network. Use a computer or mobile device to connect to this new network. Open a web browser and follow the on-screen instructions to scan for available distant WiFi networks and select the one you wish to extend. Enter any necessary passwords for the distant network.

  5. Network Verification:

    After configuration, verify that the CC Vector is successfully connected to the distant network and is broadcasting a new, stable WiFi signal. Test internet connectivity on devices connected to the CC Vector's network.

4. Operating Instructions

The CC Vector system operates by receiving a distant WiFi signal and then creating a new, local WiFi network for your devices. Here's how to use it effectively:

  • Connecting Devices: Once the CC Vector is set up and broadcasting its new WiFi network, simply connect your WiFi-enabled devices (smartphones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, etc.) to this network using the network name (SSID) and password you configured during setup.
  • Ethernet Ports: The CC Vector unit includes two Ethernet jacks. These can be used to hardwire additional computers or routers, providing a stable wired connection.
  • Frequency Bands: The system primarily uses the 2.4 GHz WiFi band for its long-distance reception and re-broadcast, which is optimal for range. It also supports 5 GHz for shorter-range connections, offering potentially higher speeds for devices closer to the CC Vector unit.
  • Performance Expectations: The CC Vector Long Range is typically capable of supporting two users watching SD quality Netflix or several users browsing the internet simultaneously. Be aware that all WiFi repeaters and extenders inherently reduce speed because data is moved twice. As the distance to the original signal increases, the overall speed may decrease.

5. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your CC Vector system, consider the following maintenance tips:

  • Antenna Inspection: Periodically inspect the outdoor parabolic antenna for any physical damage, loose connections, or accumulation of dirt/debris. Clean the antenna surface gently with a soft, damp cloth if necessary.
  • Cable Integrity: Check the USB Split Cable for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage, especially where it is exposed to outdoor elements. Ensure all connections remain sealed and protected from moisture.
  • Software Updates: Check the C. Crane website periodically for any firmware updates for the CC Vector unit. Keeping the firmware updated can improve performance and security.
  • Environmental Considerations: While the outdoor antenna is designed for outdoor use, extreme weather conditions (heavy snow, ice, strong winds) may affect performance or cause damage. Ensure the antenna is securely mounted to withstand local weather.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your CC Vector system, try the following troubleshooting steps:
