Yescom 800-1 Electric Centrifuge Machine User Manual

Model: 35CEN001-800-09

Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Yescom 800-1 Electric Centrifuge Machine. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the device to ensure proper usage and to prevent damage or injury.

The Yescom 800-1 is designed for separating liquid from solid particles or liquid mixtures of different densities in medical and chemical experiments. It features a fixed-angle rotor with a capacity for six 20ml centrifuge tubes, adjustable speed up to 4000 r/min, and a timer up to 60 minutes.

Safety Instructions

Adherence to the following safety guidelines is crucial for safe operation:

  • Always operate the centrifuge on a stable, level surface.
  • Ensure the power supply matches the specifications (110V, 60Hz).
  • Never open the lid while the rotor is spinning. Wait until the rotor has completely stopped.
  • Always load tubes symmetrically to prevent imbalance and excessive vibration. Uneven loading can cause damage to the machine and potential hazards.
  • If separating an odd number of liquid tubes, use an additional tube filled with water to match the weight of the liquid tube for symmetrical balancing.
  • Do not operate the centrifuge if any parts are damaged or missing.
  • Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing away from the rotating parts.
  • Do not use the centrifuge in environments with flammable or explosive materials.
  • Unplug the unit before cleaning or maintenance.

Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the centrifuge from its packaging. Retain packaging materials for future transport or storage.
  2. Placement: Place the centrifuge on a firm, level, and stable workbench. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for ventilation and safe operation. The three suction cups on the bottom will help secure the unit.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to a grounded electrical outlet that matches the specified voltage (110V, 60Hz).
  4. Rotor Inspection: Before first use, inspect the rotor and tube slots for any debris or damage. Clean if necessary.

Operating Instructions

  1. Prepare Samples: Fill the centrifuge tubes with your samples. Ensure the tubes are suitable for centrifugation and can withstand the forces involved.
  2. Load Tubes Symmetrically: This is critical for safe and efficient operation. Insert 2, 3, 4, or 6 tubes into the rotor holes symmetrically. If the placement is not symmetrical, the machine will not operate normally and may vibrate excessively. If you have an odd number of samples, use a balance tube filled with water to match the weight of your sample tube.

  3. Close Lid: Securely close the centrifuge lid.
  4. Set Speed: Use the "SPEED" rotary knob to select the desired rotation speed (0 to 4000 r/min).
  5. Set Time: Use the "TIME" rotary knob to set the desired centrifugation duration (0 to 60 minutes). If you set the timer to "HOLD", the centrifuge will run continuously until manually stopped.
  6. Start Operation: The centrifuge will begin operation once the time is set.
  7. Monitor Operation: Observe the centrifuge during operation. If excessive vibration or unusual noise occurs, immediately turn off the unit and check tube balance.
  8. End of Cycle: The centrifuge will automatically stop when the set time expires. Wait for the rotor to come to a complete stop before opening the lid.
  9. Remove Samples: Carefully open the lid and remove the centrifuged tubes.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your centrifuge.

  • Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the centrifuge before cleaning.
    • Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
    • Clean the rotor and tube slots regularly to prevent accumulation of dust or sample residue.
    • Ensure all parts are dry before re-connecting power and operating.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the centrifuge in a clean, dry, and dust-free environment.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the power cord for damage and the suction cups for wear.
