Setup

Unpacking:

  1. Carefully remove the breadmaker and all accessories from the packaging.
  2. Remove any packing materials, stickers, or labels from the appliance.
  3. Retain the packaging for future storage or transport.

Before First Use:

  1. Wash the bread pan and kneading paddle with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  2. Wipe the exterior of the breadmaker with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
  3. Ensure all parts are dry before assembly.

Placement:

  • Place the breadmaker on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the appliance, especially during operation. Do not place it directly against a wall or in a confined space.
  • Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

Basic Operation:

  1. Insert Kneading Paddle: Place the kneading paddle onto the shaft inside the bread pan.
  2. Add Ingredients: Add ingredients to the bread pan in the order specified by your recipe (typically liquids first, then dry ingredients, with yeast last). Ensure the automatic fruit and nut dispenser is filled if your recipe requires it.
  3. Place Bread Pan: Insert the bread pan into the breadmaker, ensuring it clicks securely into place. Close the lid.
  4. Select Program: Press the MENU button to cycle through the available programs. The SmartBake BM7850 offers a variety of preset menus, including:
    • 01. Basic
    • 02. Turbo
    • 03. Gluten/Yeast Free
    • 04. Wheat
    • 05. Sweet
    • 06. French
    • 07. Bake (for baking pre-made dough)
    • 08. Extra Turbo
    • 09. Jam
    • 10. Bake (another bake option)
    • 11. Pasta Dough
    • 12. Pizza Dough
  5. Select Loaf Size: Press the SIZE button to choose the desired loaf size (e.g., 1.25Kg).
  6. Select Crust Color: Press the CRUST button to select light, medium, or dark crust.
  7. Start Baking: Press the START/PAUSE button to begin the selected program. The display will indicate the current stage (Preheat, Knead, Rise, Bake, Keep Warm).
  8. Automatic Dispenser: For programs that include it, the automatic fruit and nut dispenser will release ingredients at the appropriate time.
  9. Completion: Once the program is complete, the breadmaker will beep and may enter a "Keep Warm" cycle. Unplug the appliance and carefully remove the bread pan using oven mitts.
  10. Remove Bread: Invert the bread pan to release the loaf. If the kneading paddle remains in the bread, carefully remove it with a non-metallic utensil.

Custom Programs:

The SmartBake BM7850 allows you to program up to 8 of your own recipes. Use the CUSTOM button and arrow keys to set specific times for each stage of the bread-making process (preheat, knead, rise, bake, keep warm). Press SAVE to store your custom program.

Delay Timer:

Use the DELAY button to set a delayed start time for your bread. This allows you to wake up to freshly baked bread. Set the desired delay time in hours and minutes before pressing START/PAUSE.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your Sunbeam Smartbake Breadmaker.

Cleaning:

  1. Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Bread Pan and Kneading Paddle: Wash with warm, soapy water. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as this can damage the non-stick coating. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  3. Automatic Fruit & Nut Dispenser: Clean any residue from the dispenser after each use.
  4. Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the breadmaker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  5. Interior: Wipe the interior of the baking chamber with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the unit in water.

Storage:

Ensure the breadmaker is clean and dry before storing. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

If you encounter issues with your breadmaker, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
