Introduction
The MSR WindBurner Personal Stove System is engineered for efficiency and reliability in outdoor environments. Its design features a radiant burner and an enclosed, windproof system, allowing for rapid water boiling and consistent performance even in challenging weather conditions. The integrated cookware, equipped with a built-in heat exchanger, ensures efficient heat transfer to the lock-on pot. This all-in-one system is designed for compact packing, with all components nesting conveniently inside the pot.

Setup
Proper assembly ensures safe and efficient operation of your WindBurner stove system.
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove the stove burner, fuel canister stand, 1.0L pot with cozy, lid, and bowl from their nested storage.
- Attach Fuel Canister Stand: Expand the legs of the fuel canister stand and securely attach it to the base of a compatible MSR IsoPro fuel canister (sold separately). This provides stability.
- Connect Stove Burner: Screw the stove burner assembly onto the threaded valve of the fuel canister. Turn clockwise until it is hand-tight. Do not overtighten. Ensure a secure connection to prevent any gas leaks.
- Position Stove: Place the assembled stove and canister onto the fuel canister stand, ensuring it is stable on a level surface.
- Attach Pot: Align the pot with the stove burner and twist it clockwise until it locks securely into place. The pot should feel firmly attached to the burner.

Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your stove.
- Prepare for Ignition: Ensure the stove is on a stable, level surface, clear of any flammable materials. The pot should be securely attached.
- Open Fuel Valve: Slowly turn the fuel valve knob counter-clockwise to release a small amount of gas. You should hear a faint hissing sound.
- Ignite Stove: Immediately after opening the valve, use an external igniter (such as a lighter or match) to ignite the gas at the burner head. The WindBurner does not feature an integrated igniter.
- Adjust Flame: Once ignited, adjust the fuel valve to achieve the desired heat output. The radiant burner will begin to glow red, indicating proper operation.
- Cooking/Boiling: Place the lid on the pot for faster boiling or cooking. Monitor your food or water closely.
- Shut Down: When finished, turn the fuel valve knob clockwise until the flame extinguishes completely.
- Cool Down: Allow the stove and pot to cool down completely before handling, disassembling, or packing. The pot and burner will be extremely hot after use.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your stove system.
- Cleaning: After each use, ensure all components are cool to the touch. Wash the pot and lid with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. For the burner assembly, wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the burner unit in water.
- Drying: Ensure all components are completely dry before reassembling or storing to prevent corrosion and mildew.
- Storage: Nest all components inside the pot for compact storage. Store the entire system in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and corrosive materials.
- Fuel Canister: Always disconnect the fuel canister from the stove when not in use. Store fuel canisters separately in a well-ventilated area, away from ignition sources.
Troubleshooting
Refer to this section for common issues and their solutions.
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Stove does not light | Fuel valve closed, empty fuel canister, loose connection, faulty igniter. | Ensure fuel valve is open. Check fuel level in canister. Tighten stove-to-canister connection. Use a reliable external igniter. |
| Low flame or inconsistent heat | Low fuel level, cold fuel canister, partially clogged burner. | Replace fuel canister or warm it slightly (e.g., in a pocket). Ensure burner is clean and free of debris. |
| Gas leak (hissing sound/smell) | Loose connection, damaged O-ring. | Immediately turn off fuel valve. Disconnect canister. Check all connections for tightness. Inspect O-rings for damage and replace if necessary. Do not use if leak persists. |
| Pot not locking securely | Misalignment, debris in locking mechanism. | Ensure pot is correctly aligned with the burner. Check for and remove any debris from the locking mechanism. |
