6. Setup

6.1 Unpacking and Placement

  • Carefully remove the preamplifier from its packaging.
  • Place the unit on a stable, level surface, ensuring adequate ventilation around all sides. Avoid placing it directly on top of heat-generating components.

6.2 Connecting Audio Sources

Connect your audio source components (e.g., CD player, streamer, turntable with phono preamp) to the desired input jacks on the rear panel.

  • For unbalanced connections, use high-quality RCA cables to connect to inputs S1-S6.
  • For balanced connections, use XLR cables to connect to inputs B1-B3.

6.3 Connecting to a Power Amplifier

Connect the SA-32 to your power amplifier(s) using either RCA or XLR cables.

  • Use RCA cables to connect from OUTPUT 1 or 2 to your power amplifier's inputs.
  • Use XLR cables to connect from OUTPUT 3 to your power amplifier's balanced inputs.
  • If using both RCA and XLR outputs, ensure unused outputs are capped to prevent interference.

6.4 Power Connection

  • Before connecting the power cable, verify that the VOLTAGE SELECTOR on the rear panel is correctly set for your region (110V or 230V). Incorrect setting can cause severe damage.
  • Connect the supplied power cable to the AC INLET on the rear panel, then plug it into a suitable wall outlet.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Powering On/Off

  • Press the POWER button on the front panel to turn the unit on. The indicator light will illuminate.
  • Allow approximately 30 seconds for the tubes to warm up before full operation. During this warm-up period, the indicator light may blink.
  • Press the POWER button again to turn the unit off.

7.2 Input Selection

  • Rotate the INPUT knob on the front panel to select the desired audio source (S1-S6 for RCA, B1-B3 for XLR).
  • Alternatively, use the S1-S6 buttons on the remote control to select RCA inputs.

7.3 Volume Adjustment

  • Adjust the VOLUME knob on the front panel or use the VOLUME ▲/▼ buttons on the remote control.
  • When using the remote, the LED on the volume knob will indicate the current level. When adjusting manually, there is no visual indicator on the knob itself.
  • For precise adjustments with the remote, use very short, light presses due to its sensitivity.

7.4 Tone Control and Bypass

  • Use the TREBLE and BASS knobs to adjust the high and low frequencies to your preference.
  • Press the TONE button to engage or bypass the tone control circuit. When bypassed, the signal path is more direct, which some users prefer for sonic purity.

7.5 Mute Function

  • Press the MUTE button on the remote control to temporarily silence the audio output. Press it again to restore sound.

8. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Tube Care: The SA-32 utilizes four 6916 vacuum tubes in its signal path. These tubes are soldered into the unit. If a tube fails or requires replacement, it is recommended to contact qualified service personnel or an authorized Vincent Audio service center. Do not attempt to replace the tubes yourself, as this requires specialized tools and knowledge and may void your warranty.
  • Ventilation: Periodically check that the ventilation openings are clear of dust and debris to ensure proper airflow.
