2. Setup and Initial Adjustment

Before using your watch, ensure it is properly wound and set.

2.1 Winding the Watch

Your ORIENT SUN&MOON watch is an automatic mechanical timepiece, meaning it is powered by the motion of your wrist. It also supports manual winding.

  • Automatic Winding: Wear the watch regularly. Normal daily activities will keep the mainspring wound.
  • Manual Winding: If the watch has stopped or has low power reserve, you can manually wind it. Rotate the crown clockwise in position 0 (normal position) for approximately 20-30 turns until the second hand starts moving. Do not overwind.

2.2 Setting the Time, Date, and Day

To ensure accurate timekeeping and proper function of the Sun&Moon indicator, follow these steps:

  1. Pull the crown to position 2 (outermost position). The second hand will stop (second hand stop function).
  2. Rotate the crown to set the time. Advance the hands clockwise until the correct time is displayed. Pay attention to the Sun&Moon indicator to distinguish between AM and PM. The Sun&Moon indicator will change around 12 AM (midnight).
  3. Push the crown back to position 1 (middle position).
  4. Rotate the crown clockwise to set the date.
  5. Rotate the crown counter-clockwise to set the day of the week.
  6. Once all settings are correct, push the crown back to position 0 (normal position).

Important: Avoid setting the date or day between 9 PM and 4 AM, as this can damage the movement. If you need to adjust during this period, first set the time outside this range, adjust the date/day, then reset the correct time.

3. Operating Your Watch

3.1 Sun&Moon Indicator

The Sun&Moon indicator at the 6 o'clock position visually represents the time of day. The sun symbol appears during daylight hours, and the moon and stars appear during nighttime hours. This indicator automatically advances with the hour hand, completing one full cycle every 24 hours.

3.2 Day of Week Display

The day of the week is displayed in a sub-dial, typically located on the upper left side of the main dial. It automatically changes at midnight, synchronized with the Sun&Moon indicator.

3.3 Semi-Skeleton Feature

Your watch features a semi-skeleton design at the 9 o'clock position, offering a glimpse into the intricate mechanical movement. This allows you to appreciate the craftsmanship and engineering of the watch's internal components.

4. Care and Maintenance

Proper care will help maintain the appearance and performance of your ORIENT watch for years to come.

4.1 Water Resistance

Your watch has a water resistance rating of 30 meters (3 ATM), suitable for daily life. This means it can withstand splashes, rain, or brief immersion in water, but it is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in to maintain water resistance.

4.2 Cleaning

  • Wipe the case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For leather straps, avoid prolonged exposure to water, direct sunlight, and harsh chemicals. Clean with a slightly damp cloth and allow to air dry.

4.3 Avoiding Damage

  • Shocks: Avoid dropping the watch or subjecting it to strong impacts.
  • Magnetic Fields: Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields (e.g., speakers, refrigerators, mobile phones), as these can affect accuracy.
  • Temperature Extremes: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Chemicals: Do not expose the watch to solvents, detergents, perfumes, or cosmetics, as they can damage the case, strap, or gaskets.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your watch, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
