Brand: La Crosse Technology

Introduction

Introducing La Crosse Technology’s new Remote Monitoring Professional Weather Station system that offers a combination of quality engineering, design, and functionality. The innovative system’s display receives and transmits data wirelessly for optimal accuracy with built-in Wi-Fi by connecting to multiple sensors and has enhanced features when connected to the La Crosse View App. Sensors in this system include a wind speed sensor, a rain sensor, and a temperature and humidity sensor, bringing you your backyard weather anytime, anywhere. The display acts as command center for all elements of the system, featuring a large LCD panel with brightly colored numbers and graphics and an adjustable kickstand, making the display easy-to-read from any angle in the room. The intuitive button design, located at the top of the station, allows you to effortlessly navigate through the display for adjustable screen brightness, easy setup, sensor data, and setting alerts. The built-in Wi-Fi module is programmed to send all sensor and display information directly to our servers, which is maintained by our team of skilled technicians, quickly processed and sent to you and your network of friends via the La Crosse View App. While gathering, processing, and sending your systems data, the Wi-Fi module also communicates directly with AccuWeather for weather information, based on your zip code, and sets time and calendar to internet. Through extensive research and dedication by our knowledgeable and experienced product design team, this system provides an advanced feature set not found in conventional weather stations. Each sensor was created with a specific function in mind and to sustain a long battery life, while withstanding the elements of Mother Nature. Considering that the sensors all have sleek modern designs, not to worry, their function was not sacrificed. The wind speed sensor was made so that debris and snow can easily slide off and features easily replaceable wind cups, the self-emptying rain bucket has a large opening and level indicator to ensure the optimal set up and accuracy, and the temperature and humidity sensor has a design new to La Crosse Technology that allows it to be hung or freestanding with the battery compartment on the front for easy accessibility. Aside from the sleek designs and user friendly features, we incorporated a high quality antenna, transmitting at 915 MHz allowing for outstanding performance in signal reception so each sensor can transmit up to 400 feet. The new connected Remote Monitoring Professional Weather Station is a must have for any home or office, bringing your weather to the palm of your hand anytime, anywhere.

Setup Guide

1. Powering the Display Unit

The display unit requires a corded electric power source for full functionality. Battery operation alone will not update sensor or Wi-Fi data to the station. Install 3 AA batteries (optional) into the display to maintain time/date in the event of a power outage, then plug in the display.

2. Installing Sensor Batteries

  • LTV-TH1 Thermo-Hygro Sensor: Requires 2 AA batteries.
  • LTV-W1 Wind Speed Sensor: Requires 2 C batteries.

Ensure batteries are inserted correctly according to polarity markings. The battery compartment for the temperature and humidity sensor is on the front for easy accessibility.

3. Sensor Placement

  • Thermo-Hygro Sensor: Mount on a north-facing wall or in any shaded area, preferably under an eave or deck rail.
  • Wind Speed Sensor: Position in an open area with minimal interference to wind speed. Both sensors have a maximum range of 400 feet in open air.

4. Wi-Fi Connectivity (La Crosse View App)

To connect your weather station to the La Crosse View App for enhanced features and remote monitoring:

  1. Download the free La Crosse View App on your mobile device.
  2. Ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network before connecting your station. Some routers use 5 GHz frequency for media streaming and 2.4 GHz for other devices.
  3. Follow the in-app instructions to pair your weather station. The Wi-Fi Indicator icon on the display should be blinking during the search for a network. If not blinking, perform a Wi-Fi search by pressing & holding the + & - buttons together on the display.
  4. The station will send sensor and display information to the app and receive weather forecasts from AccuWeather and time/calendar data from the internet.

For detailed setup instructions, please refer to the Official User Guide (PDF).

Maintenance

Sensor Care

  • Wind Speed Sensor: Designed so that debris and snow can easily slide off. Features easily replaceable wind cups. Periodically check for obstructions and clean as needed to ensure accurate readings.
  • Rain Sensor: The self-emptying rain bucket has a large opening and level indicator. Ensure the bucket is free of debris for optimal setup and accuracy.
  • Temperature and Humidity Sensor: Can be hung or freestanding. Ensure the sensor is placed in a location that allows for proper air circulation and is protected from direct sunlight and precipitation for accurate readings.

Battery Replacement

Sensors are designed for a long battery life. Replace batteries in sensors as needed to maintain continuous data transmission. Refer to the "Setup Guide" for battery types and quantities for each sensor.

Troubleshooting & Tips

If you encounter issues with your weather station, consider the following:

  • Wi-Fi Network: Confirm that your mobile device is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network when connecting your station.
  • Wi-Fi Indicator: When connecting to the app, ensure the Wi-Fi Indicator icon is blinking.
    • Solid: Indicates that you are connected to Wi-Fi.
    • Flashing: Searching for Wi-Fi Network.
    • Not displayed: Not Connected.
  • Performing Wi-Fi Search: If the Wi-Fi indicator is not blinking, perform a Wi-Fi search by pressing & holding the + & - buttons together on the display.
  • Power Cord Requirement: Station power cord use is required for sensor and Wi-Fi data updates. Battery operation only will not update this data.
  • New Wi-Fi Network: If switching to a new Wi-Fi network, your station may take up to 3 minutes to reacquire all sensor information.
  • Power Outage: In the event of a power outage, or if your station is temporarily unplugged, it should automatically reconnect to your existing Wi-Fi network once power is reestablished.
