Setup and Connection
Follow these steps to connect your BTF-LIGHTING X2 controller to your LED strip and power supply.

Image: Front and back views of the controller, highlighting the input/output ports and connection terminals.
- Power Supply Connection: Connect your DC5V-DC24V power supply to the V+ and V- terminals on the controller. Ensure the power supply voltage matches the voltage of your LED strip.
- LED Strip Connection: Connect your addressable LED strip to the controller's output terminals.
- Connect the LED strip's Data (DI) line to the 'D' terminal on the controller.
- For LED strips with a Clock (CI) line (e.g., 6803), connect it to the 'C' terminal. For WS2811, WS2812B, WS2815, 1903, this terminal remains empty.
- Connect the LED strip's positive (+) line to the 'V+' terminal and negative (-) line to the 'V-' terminal on the controller.
- Audio Input Connection: For music synchronization, connect your audio source (e.g., smartphone, music player) to the 3.5mm 'IN' port on the controller using the provided audio cable. The 'OUT' port can be connected to a speaker if desired, but it is not mandatory for operation.

Operating Instructions
Remote Control Overview
The X2 controller is operated using the included wireless touch remote control. Familiarize yourself with its buttons and functions:

Image: Layout of the remote control, indicating buttons for ON/OFF, color adjusting touch ring, status indicator, light run direction/LED strip IC select, light change speed, music control mode adjust, and NO-music control mode adjust.
- ON/OFF Buttons: Power the controller on or off.
- Color Adjusting Touch Ring: Slide your finger around the ring to select desired static colors.
- Status Indicator: Provides feedback on remote status.
- Light Run Direction / LED Strip IC Select: Used to change the direction of light flow or select the correct IC type for your LED strip.
- Light Change Speed: Adjusts the speed of dynamic lighting effects.
- Music Control Mode Adjust: Cycles through 27 different music-controlled lighting modes.
- NO-Music Control Mode Adjust: Cycles through 14 different non-music controlled lighting modes.
Pairing the Remote to the Receiver
To ensure proper communication, pair the remote control with the X2 receiver:
- Power on the controller.
- Within 5 seconds after powering the receiver, simultaneously press the two keys indicated on the remote (refer to the image above, typically the 'S' and 'M' buttons or similar pairing buttons).
- If the LED strip flickers three times, the pairing process is successful.
- If pairing fails, restore power to the controller and repeat Step 2.
Note: You must press the two keys at the same time, as fast as possible. Ensure the remote is awake before pressing the keys. If the remote is in standby, the process will not succeed.
Selecting the IC Type of the LED Strip
The controller needs to know the specific IC type of your LED strip for correct operation. Use the 'Light Run Direction / LED Strip IC Select' button on the remote to cycle through supported IC types (1903, 2811, WS2812B, 6803, WS2815, WS2813). The controller's display will show the selected IC type. Refer to your LED strip's specifications to choose the correct one.
Calibrating LED Strip RGB Illumination
To ensure accurate color representation, you may need to calibrate the RGB order. This process typically involves a sequence of button presses on the remote to cycle through different RGB orders until the colors displayed on the strip match the expected colors (e.g., red, green, blue). Consult the detailed user manual provided in the package for specific steps on RGB calibration.
Music Control Modes
The controller offers 27 music-controlled modes. These modes react to audio input from the 3.5mm jack. The intensity and pattern of the lighting effects are influenced by the music rhythm, audio volume, and the audio sensitive knob on the receiver. Not all music programs' jump heights are solely dependent on music rhythm; some are pre-adjusted. For optimal performance, adjust the audio sensitive knob on the controller to fine-tune the responsiveness to your music.
An external video demonstrating lighting effects is available at: https://youtu.be/Q24vOk9DQ18. This video can help illustrate how various music programs, such as 2001/2002/2003, respond to music.
Non-Music Control Modes
In addition to music modes, there are 14 non-music controlled modes. These modes offer various static colors, dynamic patterns, and effects that do not require an audio input. Use the dedicated button on the remote to cycle through these modes.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the controller and remote. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the controller and remote in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Battery Replacement: Replace the AAA batteries in the remote control when its performance degrades or it stops responding.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| LED strip does not light up. | Incorrect power supply voltage; loose connections; incorrect IC type selected; faulty LED strip. | Verify power supply voltage matches LED strip. Check all wiring connections. Ensure correct IC type is selected on the controller. Test with a different LED strip if possible. |
| Remote control not responding. | Batteries are dead or incorrectly inserted; remote not paired; remote too far from controller. | Replace AAA batteries. Re-pair the remote control following the "Pairing the Remote" instructions. Ensure remote is within 20 meters of the controller. |
| Music mode not synchronizing correctly. | Audio cable not connected; audio source volume too low; audio sensitive knob not adjusted. | Ensure 3.5mm audio cable is securely connected to the 'IN' port and audio source. Increase volume on the audio source. Adjust the audio sensitive knob on the controller for optimal response. |
| Colors are incorrect or flickering. | Incorrect IC type selected; RGB calibration needed; faulty LED strip. | Verify correct IC type. Perform RGB calibration as per the detailed user manual. |
