Setup and First Use

Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials from the coffee maker. Ensure all components, including the main unit, glass carafe, and removable filter basket, are present and undamaged. Retain packaging for future storage or transport if needed.

Initial Cleaning

Before first use, clean all removable parts. Wash the glass carafe and the removable filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.

Placement

Place the coffee maker on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the countertop. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit. Do not place it on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

First Brew Cycle (Cleaning Cycle)

1. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the 6-cup mark (750 mL).
2. Place the empty removable filter basket into its holder. Do not add coffee grounds for this cycle.
3. Ensure the glass carafe is correctly positioned on the heating plate.
4. Press the power button (⏻) to start a brewing cycle. Allow the full cycle to complete.
5. Discard the water from the carafe. Your coffee maker is now ready for use.

Operating Instructions

Brewing Coffee

1. Open the lid of the water reservoir and fill with fresh, cold water to your desired level, up to the 750 mL (6-cup) maximum.
2. Remove the filter basket and add your preferred amount of ground coffee. For best results, use medium-ground coffee. The removable filter eliminates the need for paper filters.
3. Place the filter basket back into its holder securely.
4. Ensure the glass carafe is placed correctly on the heating plate.
5. Press the power button (⏻) to begin the brewing process. The indicator light will illuminate.
6. Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will automatically switch to the "keep warm" function. The heating plate will keep the coffee hot for a period of time.
7. To turn off the coffee maker, press the power button again.

Aroma Control Function

The Kenwood kMix coffee maker features an aroma control function, indicated by the button with "00" on the control panel. This function allows you to adjust the brewing process to achieve a stronger or milder coffee flavor according to your preference. Maintenance and Cleaning

Daily Cleaning

Descaling

Mineral deposits from water can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descaling should be performed regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-4 months).

1. Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler product instructions, or use a mixture of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
2. Pour the solution into the water reservoir.
3. Place the empty carafe on the heating plate.
4. Run a brewing cycle. If using vinegar, stop the cycle halfway through and let it soak for 15-30 minutes before resuming.
5. After the cycle, discard the solution.
6. Run 2-3 cycles with fresh, clean water to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.
