3. Operating Instructions

The Portable Central Controller provides intuitive control over your HVAC system. The digital display shows current settings and environmental conditions.

Basic Operation:

  • Power On/Off: Use the designated button on the controller to turn the system on or off.
  • Mode Selection: Cycle through available operation modes: Cool, Heat, and Auto. The selected mode will be displayed prominently.
  • Temperature Adjustment: Use the up/down arrows or dedicated temperature buttons to set your desired room temperature. The display will show the target temperature.
  • Temperature Sensing: The controller can display the room temperature sensed either by the indoor unit (default setting) or by the portable controller itself. This setting can typically be adjusted in the controller's menu.

Advanced Features:

  • Outdoor Temperature/Humidity: If an optional MOS1 outdoor sensor is installed and connected, the controller can display real-time outdoor temperature and humidity readings.
  • Temporary Schedule Override: This feature allows you to temporarily adjust the temperature setting without permanently altering your programmed schedule. The system will revert to the schedule after a set period or upon manual cancellation.
  • Fahrenheit/Celsius Toggle: The controller supports both Fahrenheit and Celsius temperature units. Refer to the controller's settings menu to switch between these display options.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Mitsubishi RedLINK Portable Central Controller.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the controller's surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the display or internal components.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace the 3 AAA alkaline batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Prompt replacement ensures continuous operation and prevents potential data loss or malfunction.
  • Environmental Conditions: Keep the controller away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity to prevent damage.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Portable Central Controller, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Controller Not Responding:
    • Check the batteries. Replace them if they are low or depleted.
    • Ensure the controller is within range of the MHK1 controller and other RedLINK devices.
  • Incorrect Temperature Readings:
    • Verify whether the controller is set to read temperature from the indoor unit or its own sensor. Adjust as needed.
    • Ensure the controller is not placed near heat sources, direct sunlight, or drafts that could affect its internal sensor.
  • System Not Responding to Commands:
    • Confirm that the MHK1 controller is powered on and functioning correctly.
    • Check for any error codes or messages on the controller's display or the MHK1 controller.
    • If recently moved, ensure the portable controller has re-established communication with the system.

For persistent issues, consult the comprehensive troubleshooting section in your MHK1 controller's user manual or contact Mitsubishi Electric customer support.
