Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to set up your Alcatel TEMPORIS 880 telephone.
1. Package Contents
Before starting, ensure all components are present:
- Alcatel TEMPORIS 880 telephone base
- Handset
- Coiled handset cord
- Telephone line cord
- User Manual (this document)
2. Connecting the Telephone
- Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset and the other end into the jack labeled with a handset icon on the side of the telephone base.
- Connect the Telephone Line: Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the jack labeled with a telephone line icon on the back of the telephone base. Plug the other end into your wall telephone jack.

Note: The Alcatel TEMPORIS 880 is line-powered and does not require an external power adapter for basic operation. However, AAA batteries (not included) may be required for certain display functions.
3. Wall Mounting (Optional)
The TEMPORIS 880 can be wall-mounted. To do so:
- Locate the wall mounting holes on the back of the telephone base.
- Install two screws (not supplied) into the wall, spaced appropriately for the mounting holes.
- Slide the telephone onto the screws, ensuring it is securely fastened.

Operating Instructions
Making and Receiving Calls
- To Make a Call: Lift the handset or press the Hands-Free button. Dial the desired number.
- To Receive a Call: Lift the handset or press the Hands-Free button when the phone rings.
- To End a Call: Place the handset back on the cradle or press the Hands-Free button again if in hands-free mode.
Hands-Free Function
The telephone features a hands-free speakerphone function:
- During a call, press the Hands-Free button to activate the speakerphone.
- To switch back to the handset, lift the handset.
- To adjust the hands-free volume, use the volume control buttons (usually up/down arrows) during a hands-free call.
Headset Operation
The TEMPORIS 880 includes an RJ9 headset jack for convenient hands-free communication with a compatible headset (not included).
- Plug your RJ9 headset into the dedicated headset jack on the side of the phone.
- To answer or make a call using the headset, press the Headset button (if available) or the Hands-Free button.
- To end a call, press the Headset button again.
Direct Memory Keys (M1-M10)
The phone has 10 direct memory keys (M1 to M10) for storing frequently dialed numbers.
To Store a Number:
- Lift the handset or press the Hands-Free button.
- Press the Store button (if available, or refer to specific key for programming).
- Dial the telephone number you wish to store.
- Press the Store button again.
- Press the desired memory key (M1-M10) to save the number.
To Dial a Stored Number:
- Lift the handset or press the Hands-Free button.
- Press the desired memory key (M1-M10). The stored number will be dialed automatically.

Mute Function
During a call, press the Mute button to temporarily disable your microphone. The other party will not hear you. Press the Mute button again to resume conversation.
Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
The MWI light on the telephone will illuminate or flash to indicate that you have new voicemail messages, provided this service is supported by your telephone service provider.
Volume Control
Use the volume control buttons (up/down arrows) to adjust the listening volume during a call (handset or hands-free mode) or to adjust the ringer volume when the phone is idle.
