Key components of the COSTWAY Portable Twin Tub Washing Machine.
  • Water Inlet: Point where water enters the washing tub.
  • Spin Cap: A cover placed over clothes in the spin tub to keep them stable during the spin cycle.
  • Pulsator: The rotating disc at the bottom of the wash tub that agitates clothes.
  • Spin Tub: The smaller tub used for spinning excess water out of clothes.
  • Drain Hose: Flexible hose used to drain water from both the wash and spin tubs.
  • Power Wire: Electrical cord for connecting the machine to a power outlet.

Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to set up your washing machine for first use:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the washing machine from its packaging. Check for any damage during transit.
  2. Placement: Place the machine on a firm, level surface. Ensure there is enough space around it for ventilation and operation. A bathroom or utility room with a drain is ideal. For proper drainage, the machine must be positioned higher than the drain outlet, as it uses gravity drainage. Many users place it in a bathtub or on a sturdy, elevated platform.
  3. Drain Hose Connection: Ensure the drain hose is securely attached to the machine. Position the drain hose to direct water into a sink, bathtub, or floor drain. The hose must be lower than the machine's drain outlet for gravity to work effectively.
  4. Water Supply: Connect a water supply hose (not always included, may require manual filling) to the water inlet on the machine. Alternatively, you can manually fill the wash tub with water using a bucket or shower head.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the voltage matches the machine's requirements.

Operating Instructions

This twin tub washing machine offers separate controls for washing and spinning.

Washing Cycle:

  1. Load Clothes: Open the lid of the wash tub and place clothes inside. Do not overload; the maximum wash capacity is 12 lbs.
  2. Add Water: Fill the wash tub with water to the desired level. You can use the water inlet connection or manually pour water.
  3. Add Detergent: Add an appropriate amount of laundry detergent. For best results and to save energy, consider using cold water detergent.
  4. Set Wash Selector: Turn the 'Wash Selector' knob to choose your desired wash mode:
    • Gentle: For delicate items, with shorter agitation periods.
    • Normal: For regular laundry, with standard agitation.
    • Drain: To drain water from the wash tub.
  5. Set Wash Timer: Turn the 'Wash Timer' knob to set the desired washing time (up to 15 minutes). The machine will start automatically. To stop the cycle early, turn the knob back to '0'.
  6. Drain Water: Once the wash cycle is complete, turn the 'Wash Selector' knob to 'Drain' to empty the water from the wash tub.

Spin Cycle:

  1. Transfer Clothes: Carefully transfer the washed clothes from the wash tub to the spin tub. Do not overload; the maximum spin capacity is 8 lbs. Ensure clothes are evenly distributed.
  2. Place Spin Cap: Place the provided spin cap firmly on top of the clothes in the spin tub. This helps stabilize the load and prevents clothes from flying out during spinning.
  3. Close Lids: Close both the inner and outer lids of the spin tub.
  4. Set Spin Timer: Turn the 'Spin Timer' knob to set the desired spinning time (up to 5 minutes). The machine will begin spinning. Clothes will be nearly dry after a few minutes of spinning.
  5. Remove Clothes: Once the spin cycle is complete, open the lids and carefully remove the spun clothes.

Care and Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your washing machine.

  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Interior Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the inside of both tubs to remove any residue or lint. Periodically, run a wash cycle with just water and a small amount of vinegar to clean the tubs.
  • Drain Hose: Ensure the drain hose is clear of blockages. Periodically check for kinks or damage.
  • Storage: If storing the machine for an extended period, ensure both tubs are completely dry to prevent mold or mildew. Store in a dry, cool place.
  • Power Cord: Inspect the power cord regularly for any signs of wear or damage.
