5. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Yealink SIP-T46S IP Phone:

  1. Connect the Stand: Attach the stand to the back of the phone unit.
  2. Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset and the other end into the handset port on the phone base.
  3. Connect to Network: Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the Internet port on the phone and the other end into a network switch or router. If your network supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), the phone will power on automatically.
  4. Connect Power (if no PoE): If PoE is not available, connect the power adapter to the DC5V port on the phone and then plug the adapter into a power outlet.
  5. Initial Boot-up: The phone will power on and begin the boot-up process. This may take a few minutes. Once complete, the display will show the main idle screen.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Making Calls

  • Dialing Directly: Pick up the handset or press the Speakerphone button, then dial the number and press the Send soft key.
  • From Call History: Press the History soft key, use navigation keys to select an entry, and press Send.
  • Using Speed Dial: Press the assigned speed dial key.

6.2. Answering Calls

  • With Handset: Pick up the handset.
  • With Speakerphone: Press the Speakerphone button.
  • With Headset: Press the Headset button.

6.3. Call Management

  • Hold: During a call, press the Hold button. Press Resume to unhold.
  • Mute: During a call, press the Mute button to mute your microphone. Press again to unmute.
  • Transfer: During a call, press the Transfer button, dial the new number, and then press Transfer again (blind transfer) or wait for the party to answer before pressing Transfer (attended transfer).
  • Conference: During a call, press the Conf soft key, dial the second party's number, and then press Conf again to join all parties.

6.4. Voicemail

  • When a new voicemail arrives, the message waiting indicator (MWI) will flash.
  • Press the Message button or the Voicemail soft key to access your voicemail. Follow the voice prompts.
