4. Setup and Installation
Installation of the Pro Chutes T-Handle Kit requires basic tools and adherence to the following steps:
- Prepare the Door: Ensure the chute door has appropriate openings for the T-handle spindle and the latch mechanism. The mounting holes for the escutcheon plate should be 1-1/2 inches apart.
- Assemble the Latch: Insert the spring into the plunger mechanism, then secure the trigger. Ensure the components move freely.
- Install the T-Handle: Insert the V-spindle of the T-handle through the designated hole in the chute door.
- Secure the Latch: Align the latch (plunger) with the T-handle's V-spindle on the interior side of the door. The V-spindle engages with the latch to operate the locking mechanism.
- Mount the Handle: Use the two provided screws to secure the T-handle's escutcheon plate to the chute door. Ensure the handle is firmly attached and does not wobble.
- Test Operation: Insert one of the CH751 keys into the T-handle lock. Turn the key to ensure the handle rotates freely and the latch mechanism engages and disengages correctly. Verify that the door locks securely when closed.
Note: For optimal security and functionality, ensure all components are installed correctly and securely. If you are unsure about any step, consult a qualified professional.
5. Operating Instructions
To operate your Pro Chutes T-Handle:
- To Unlock: Insert one of the provided CH751 keys into the keyhole on the T-handle. Turn the key to disengage the internal locking mechanism. The handle should now be free to rotate.
- To Open the Door: With the lock disengaged, rotate the T-handle. This action retracts the latch (plunger), allowing the chute door to open.
- To Close and Lock: Close the chute door. Rotate the T-handle back to its original position. The latch (plunger) will extend, securing the door. Remove the key to lock the handle in place.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and smooth operation of your T-handle kit:
- Cleaning: Wipe the chrome T-handle and exposed parts of the latch with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners that may damage the finish.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the keyhole and the moving parts of the latch mechanism to ensure smooth operation. Do not over-lubricate.
- Inspection: Regularly check all screws and connections to ensure they remain tight. Inspect the T-handle and latch for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Replace components if significant wear is observed.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your T-handle kit, consider the following:
- Handle is Stiff or Hard to Turn:
- Check for obstructions around the handle or latch mechanism.
- Apply lubricant to the keyhole and latch mechanism.
- Ensure the V-spindle is correctly aligned with the latch.
- Key Does Not Turn or Is Hard to Insert:
- Ensure you are using the correct CH751 key.
- Check for debris in the keyhole. Use a small amount of graphite lubricant if necessary.
- Door Does Not Latch Securely:
- Verify that the latch (plunger) extends fully when the handle is rotated.
- Check for misalignment of the latch with the door frame strike plate. Adjust if possible.
- Inspect the spring within the latch mechanism for damage or weakness.
