5. Installation

5.1 Understanding the 5-Pin SPDT Relay

This relay is a Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) type, meaning it has one common input (pin 30) and two outputs: one normally open (NO, pin 87) and one normally closed (NC, pin 87a). When the coil (pins 85 and 86) is energized, the common input switches from the normally closed contact to the normally open contact.

5.2 Wiring Connections

The pigtail wires are color-coded for easier identification, though specific color assignments can vary. Always refer to the pin numbers on the relay and the wiring diagrams below for accurate connections.

  • When the control signal is removed, the coil de-energizes, and the internal switch returns to its default position, connecting pin 30 to pin 87a (Normally Closed) and disconnecting pin 30 from pin 87.

Ensure that the control signal voltage matches the relay's nominal coil voltage (12V DC) for reliable operation.
