3. Setup Instructions
3.1 Assembly
Assemble the HDTV Yagi antenna components according to the diagrams provided in the included instruction manual. Ensure all connections are secure.
3.2 Mounting
The antenna can be mounted outdoors using the provided mounting pole or in an attic. For optimal reception, consider the following:
- Antenna Height: Higher placement generally improves signal reception.
- Terrain: Obstructions like hills, buildings, and dense foliage can block signals.
- Distance from Transmitter: Position the antenna to face the general direction of broadcast towers. Websites like FCC DTV Reception Maps can help identify local broadcast tower locations.
3.3 Connections
- Connect the 40FT coaxial cable to the antenna.
- Connect the other end of the coaxial cable to the amplifier.
- Connect the 5FT USB Power Cable to the amplifier and then to the UL certified adapter. Plug the adapter into a power outlet.
- Connect the amplifier's output to your television's antenna input (ANT/IN).
- Important: The power adapter must be connected to the amplifier for proper operation, regardless of the gain control setting.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Channel Scan
After connecting the antenna, perform a channel scan on your television. Access your TV's menu, navigate to "Channel Setup" or "Scan," and select "Auto Scan" or "Auto Program." This process will detect available over-the-air channels.
4.2 Adjustable Gain Amplifier
The included amplifier features adjustable gain control. This allows you to optimize signal strength:
- If you are closer to broadcast towers, use less gain to prevent signal overload.
- If you are farther from broadcast towers, use more gain to boost weaker signals.
Adjust the gain control and re-scan for channels to find the optimal setting for your location.
5. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your antenna, consider the following:
- No Signal or Poor Reception:
- Ensure the power adapter is correctly connected to the amplifier and plugged into a working power outlet.
- Verify all coaxial cable connections are secure.
- Adjust the antenna's direction. Perform a channel scan after each adjustment.
- Adjust the amplifier's gain control. Too much or too little gain can affect reception.
- Check for obstructions (trees, buildings) that might be blocking the signal path.
- Signal reception is significantly affected by antenna height, terrain, distance from the broadcasting transmission antenna, and the output power of the transmitter.
- Missing Channels:
- Perform a new channel scan on your TV.
- Try repositioning the antenna slightly and re-scan.
