Installation Instructions
Follow these steps carefully for proper installation of your KUS Tachometer.
- Prepare Mounting Hole: Cut an 85mm (3-3/8") diameter hole in your dashboard or auxiliary gauge bracket. Ensure a minimum clearance of 55mm (2-3/16") behind the dashboard for the gauge body.
- Secure the Gauge: Remove the fastening ring. Insert the gauge into the prepared hole, adjust its position, and then tighten the fastening ring from the rear to secure the gauge.
- Power Connection: Connect the gauge to a 12VDC or 24VDC power supply according to the wiring diagram.
- Sensor and Backlight Connection: Insert the multi-plug connector into the gauge (refer to the wiring diagram below). Connect the appropriate wires for the tachometer signal and select either red or yellow backlight based on your preference.

Figure 2: Detailed wiring diagram and installation steps. This diagram illustrates the required hole size, how to secure the gauge, and the color-coded connections for power (Red: 12V/24V (+), Blue: Ground (-)), backlight (Orange-Red: Red backlight (+), Yellow-Yellow: Yellow backlight (+)), and sensor signal (Black).
Wiring Diagram Details:
- Red Wire: 12V/24V Power (+)
- Blue Wire: Ground (-)
- Black Wire: Sensor Signal
- Orange-Red Wire: Red Backlight (+)
- Yellow-Yellow Wire: Yellow Backlight (+)
Note: The tachometer can receive signals from the engine, ignition coil, crankshaft sensor, or a dedicated tacho sensor (sold separately). If a tacho sensor is required, please refer to compatible models such as ASIN B0746FCW23 or B0746F56KN.
Operating Instructions
Setting the Speed Ratio:
The speed ratio (H-value) needs to be adjusted to match your engine's signal. The adjustable range is 0.5-250.
- Enter Setting Mode: Press and hold the black rubber button on the back of the gauge for approximately 3 seconds. The LCD display will show the current speed ratio setting (e.g., "H-010.0 H").
- Adjust Value:
- While in setting mode, a short press of the button will increase the value.
- A long press of the button will continuously increase the value.
- To decrease the value, release the button and then long press it again.
- Save Setting: Once the desired speed ratio is displayed, release the button. The tachometer will automatically save the setting after 3 seconds and exit the setting mode. If the setup doesn't meet your demand, please re-setup.
Typical idle speed ratio is generally between 600-800 RPM. Adjust the speed ratio to achieve accurate RPM readings for your specific engine.
Backlight Selection:
The tachometer offers two backlight color options: red and yellow. Connect the corresponding backlight wire (Orange-Red for red, Yellow-Yellow for yellow) to the positive power supply during installation to activate your preferred color.

Maintenance
The KUS Tachometer is designed for durability and minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the gauge face and bezel. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or glass.
- Waterproof and Anti-fog: The gauge features an IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating, meaning it can withstand immersion in up to 1 meter of water. The curved glass also provides excellent anti-fog performance, reducing the need for frequent cleaning due to condensation.
- Material Durability: The 316 stainless steel bezel offers high corrosion resistance, suitable for marine environments.
Troubleshooting
Inaccurate RPM Readings or Signal Issues:
If you experience inaccurate RPM readings or signal instability, especially in environments with heavy tacho signal disturbance, consider the following:
- Adjust Speed Ratio: Ensure the speed ratio (H-value) is correctly set for your engine type and signal source. Refer to the "Setting the Speed Ratio" section.
- Signal Filtering: If the pointer of the tachometer moves slowly or with significant changes due to signal disturbance, it may be necessary to add a resistor. A 1/4W, 1-20K resistor in series connection to strengthen the signal processing capability is recommended. Alternatively, adding a 20K potentiometer in series connection can be used to fine-tune the signal.
- Wiring Check: Verify all wiring connections are secure and correctly matched according to the installation diagram. Ensure no loose connections or short circuits.
- Power Supply: Confirm the power supply (12V/24V) is stable and within the specified voltage range.
