Key Features:

  • Wire Stripping: Accurately strips 10-22 AWG solid copper wire or aluminum cables.
  • Wire Cutting: Sharp blades for clean cuts.
  • Wire Crimping: Suitable for both insulated and non-insulated terminals (10-22 AWG).
  • Wire Looping: Integrated holes for bending wires into loops for screw terminals (4-40, 6-32, 8-32, 10-32).
  • Threaded Screw Shears: For cutting screws without damaging threads.
  • Ergonomic Grip: Non-slip rubber handles designed for comfort and reduced hand fatigue.

Operating Instructions

1. Wire Stripping

To strip wire insulation:

  1. Identify the wire gauge (AWG) of the wire you intend to strip.
  2. Locate the corresponding stripping hole on the tool's jaws. The tool is marked for 10-22 AWG solid wire.
  3. Insert the wire into the correct stripping hole, ensuring only the insulation is within the cutting blades.
  4. Close the handles firmly to cut through the insulation, then pull the tool away from the wire to remove the stripped insulation.

2. Wire Cutting

To cut wires:

  1. Place the wire into the designated cutting blades located near the pivot point of the tool.
  2. Ensure the wire is positioned securely within the cutting edges.
  3. Squeeze the handles together firmly to cut the wire.

3. Wire Crimping

To crimp terminals:

  1. Select the appropriate crimping die based on the terminal type (insulated or non-insulated) and wire gauge. The tool has color-coded crimp dots for 10-16 AWG (blue/yellow) and 18-22 AWG (red).
  2. Insert the terminal into the chosen crimping die.
  3. Insert the stripped wire into the terminal.
  4. Squeeze the handles completely to crimp the terminal onto the wire, ensuring a secure connection.

4. Wire Looping

To create wire loops for screw terminals:

  1. Identify the screw size (e.g., 4-40, 6-32, 8-32, 10-32) for which you need to create a loop.
  2. Insert the stripped end of the wire into the corresponding looping hole.
  3. Rotate the tool or the wire to form a neat loop that fits around the screw.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your WGGE WG-015 tool.

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe the tool clean with a dry cloth to remove any debris, dust, or moisture.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a light machine oil to the pivot point to ensure smooth operation.
  • Storage: Store the tool in a dry environment to prevent rust. Keep the jaws closed when not in use to protect the cutting edges.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the cutting and stripping edges for wear or damage. Replace the tool if significant damage is observed that could affect performance or safety.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your WGGE WG-015 tool, consider the following common solutions:

  • Wire not stripping cleanly:
    • Ensure you are using the correct stripping hole for the wire's AWG size.
    • Apply firm, consistent pressure when closing the handles.
    • Check for debris or damage in the stripping jaws that might be obstructing the cut.
  • Difficulty cutting wire:
    • Ensure the wire is fully seated in the cutting blades.
    • The tool is designed for copper and aluminum wires; avoid cutting harder materials.
  • Crimped terminals are loose:
    • Verify that the correct crimping die was selected for the terminal and wire gauge.
    • Ensure the handles are fully squeezed during the crimping process.

If problems persist, refer to the warranty and support information.
