Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your LAPOND AC 220V/2.2KW 3HP Variable Frequency Drive. Please read thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper functionality and safety.
Important Safety Information
- This VFD is ONLY applicable to three-phase asynchronous motors.
- If your motor is heavy load, choose a higher horsepower VFD than your motor's.
- For air compressors with very large instantaneous starting current, to avoid overcurrent, choose a VFD with twice the horsepower of the compressor (e.g., 2HP compressor, recommend 4HP or 5HP VFD).
- To avoid huge electric current impact to the mains system and mechanical shock to the machine system, it is strongly recommended NOT to turn on the motor after the VFD starts up.
- Always ensure power is off before wiring or maintenance. Use proper safety equipment.
- The inside of the heat sink may reach about 176°F (80°C) when the VFD is working. Please pay attention to protection measures.

Setup and Installation
Wiring the VFD
Ensure all power is disconnected before proceeding with wiring. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Power Input Wiring (Single Phase 220V)
Connect the 220V single-phase power supply wires to the L1 and L2 terminals of the VFD. Ensure connections are firm.
Motor Output Wiring (Three Phase 220V)
Connect the three motor wires to the U, V, and W terminals of the VFD. Ensure connections are firm.

Grounding
Ensure the VFD and motor are properly grounded according to local electrical codes.
Initial Power-Up and Frequency Check
After wiring, replace the terminal cover. Power on the VFD. Turn the frequency knob clockwise fully. The panel should display the rated frequency (e.g., 50 Hz). Verify that the motor's rated frequency matches the VFD's rated frequency.
Adjusting Acceleration/Deceleration Times
If your motor drives high-torque equipment, adjust the acceleration and deceleration times (F014 and F015 parameters) to a higher value to prevent issues. For example, if the current setting is 10 Hz, you might adjust it to 15 Hz or 20 Hz.
Motor Rotation Direction
If the motor rotates in the reverse direction, turn off the power. Exchange the connections of any two motor wires (U, V, or W) at the VFD output terminals. Ensure wires are firmly connected before powering on again.
Operating Instructions
Basic Operation
Once the VFD is powered on and parameters are set, press the "RUN" button to start the motor. Use the frequency knob to adjust the motor speed. Press "STOP/RESET" to stop the motor.

Advanced Control Features
- Remote Control: The control panel is detachable for remote operation.
- PWM Control: Supports 5V or 10V PWM control frequency for external speed regulation.
- External Braking Resistor: The VFD supports an external braking resistor for faster deceleration (not included).
- Potentiometer/MODBUS: External potentiometer and MODBUS functions are supported for flexible control.
- Digital/Analog Terminals: Enhanced digital/analog terminals allow for integration with systems like Mach3 and RS-485.
Maintenance
- Regularly inspect wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear.
- Keep the VFD clean and free from dust and debris to ensure proper cooling.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the VFD to prevent overheating.
- If the VFD is not in use for an extended period, store it in a dry, dust-free environment.
Troubleshooting
For specific error codes or operational issues, refer to the detailed troubleshooting section in the complete user manual.
- If the motor does not start, check power connections, motor wiring, and VFD parameters (e.g., frequency, acceleration time).
- If the motor runs in the wrong direction, reverse any two motor output wires (U, V, W).
- If the VFD displays an overcurrent or overload error, check motor load, acceleration/deceleration times, and motor current parameters.
