1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the FineSource Electronic Digital Caliper. This precision measuring tool is designed for accurate measurements in various applications, including home DIY, woodworking, jewelry making, and general craft projects. 2. Included Components

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The FineSource Digital Caliper uses one LR44 battery. If the display does not turn on or is dim, the battery may need to be installed or replaced.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the digital display unit.
  2. Slide the cover open or use a small screwdriver (not included) to gently pry it open.
  3. Insert the LR44 battery with the positive (+) side facing upwards.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2 Initial Power On

After installing the battery, slide the caliper's movable jaw to turn it on automatically. Alternatively, press the ON button. The extra-large LCD screen should display "0.00" or "0.000".

4. Operating Instructions

The FineSource Digital Caliper offers four primary measurement capabilities: outside diameter, inside diameter, depth, and step measurements.

4.1 Zeroing the Caliper

Before taking any measurement, ensure the caliper is properly zeroed. Close the jaws completely and press the ZERO button. The display should read "0.00" (for mm) or "0.000" (for inches).

4.2 Unit Conversion (Inch/Metric)

To switch between millimeters (mm) and inches (in), press the mm/inch button located on the display unit. The current unit will be indicated on the LCD screen.

4.3 Taking Measurements

4.3.1 Outside Diameter Measurement

Use the large jaws to measure external dimensions. Open the jaws, place the object between them, and close the jaws firmly until they make contact with the object. Read the measurement on the LCD screen.

4.3.2 Inside Diameter Measurement

Use the small jaws at the top of the caliper to measure internal dimensions. Insert the small jaws into the opening of the object and expand them until they make firm contact with the inner walls. Read the measurement on the LCD screen.

4.3.3 Depth Measurement

To measure depth, use the depth rod located at the end of the movable jaw. Place the end of the main beam on the top surface of the object, then extend the depth rod into the hole or recess until it touches the bottom. Read the measurement on the LCD screen.

4.3.4 Step Measurement

For step measurements, use the step measuring face at the end of the main beam. Place the main beam on the higher surface and extend the movable jaw until its step measuring face rests on the lower surface. Read the measurement on the LCD screen.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the caliper with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth after each use. Avoid using solvents or harsh chemicals.
  • Storage: Store the caliper in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep the jaws slightly open to prevent pressure on the measuring surfaces.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace the LR44 battery when the display becomes dim or unresponsive.
  • Handling: The caliper is made of sturdy carbon fiber composite, but avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong impacts, as this can affect its accuracy.

6. Troubleshooting
