Product Overview
Cable Tracker Receiver

The receiver unit, used to detect the tone signal emitted by the sender. It features a speaker for audible tone detection and an ON/OFF/TEST switch. Dimensions: approximately 238mm (length) x 43mm (width) x 26mm (thickness).
The receiver is the handheld unit used to detect the signal generated by the sender. It has a speaker to audibly indicate the presence of the tone and a sensitivity adjustment for precise tracing. The switch on the side allows you to turn the unit ON/OFF and select the TEST mode for tracing.
Cable Tracker Sender

The sender unit, which generates the tone signal. It includes an RJ11 connector and two crocodile clips for various cable connections. Indicator lights show the selected mode (Tone, Off, Cont). Dimensions: approximately 145mm (length) x 35mm (width) x 25mm (thickness).
The sender unit generates the tone signal that is injected into the cable. It comes with an attached RJ11 connector for telephone lines and two crocodile clips for connecting to individual wires or non-RJ11 cables. It has a switch to select between TONE, OFF, and CONT (Continuity) modes, indicated by LED lights.
Tool Pouch

A durable black zippered pouch designed to store and protect the cable tracker sender, receiver, and accessories. Dimensions: approximately 250mm (length) x 120mm (width).
The included zip-up tool pouch provides convenient storage and protection for the sender, receiver, and all accompanying cables and accessories, ensuring the kit remains organized and portable.
Setup
Battery Installation
Both the sender and receiver units require 9V (6F22) batteries for operation. Batteries are not included in the package.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of both the sender and receiver units.
- Slide open the battery cover.
- Connect a 9V battery to the battery clip, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Place the battery into the compartment and close the cover securely.
Note: It is recommended to use high-quality 9V batteries for optimal performance and longevity.
Operating Instructions
1. Continuity Test
This function allows you to check if a cable or wire has a continuous electrical path, indicating no breaks.
- Ensure the cable or wire is disconnected from any power source.
- Connect the sender unit to the cable using either the RJ11 connector or the crocodile clips. For example, connect one crocodile clip to one end of the wire and the other clip to the other end.
- Set the sender's switch to the CONT position. The "CONT" LED on the sender should illuminate if continuity is detected.
- If the LED does not light up, there is a break in the cable or wire.
2. Wire Tracing (Tone Generation)
This function helps identify and trace a specific wire or cable within a bundle.
- Ensure the cable or wire is disconnected from any power source.
- Connect the sender unit to the cable you wish to trace. Use the RJ11 connector for telephone lines or the crocodile clips for other wires. For example, connect one crocodile clip to the wire and the other clip to a ground point (if applicable) or another wire in the pair.
- Set the sender's switch to the TONE position. The "TONE" LED on the sender should illuminate, indicating it is generating a tone. The sender can produce either a single solid tone or a dual alternating tone.
- Turn on the receiver unit by sliding its switch to the TEST position.
- Move the receiver's probe along the cables or wires at the other end or along the path of the cable.
- Listen for the audible tone from the receiver's speaker. The tone will be loudest when the receiver is directly over the cable connected to the sender.
- Use the tone's intensity to pinpoint the exact cable and trace its path.
3. Telephone Line State Identification
This feature allows you to identify the status of a working telephone line.
- Connect the RJ11 plug from the sender unit directly into the telephone line jack.
- Observe the LEDs on the sender unit:
- "CLEAR" LED: Illuminates when the line is idle (on-hook).
- "RING" LED: Flashes when the line is ringing.
- "BUSY" LED: Illuminates when the line is in use (off-hook).
- This helps in debugging and maintaining telephone lines by quickly identifying their operational status.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the tone signal becomes weak or the LEDs dim. Refer to the "Battery Installation" section for instructions.
- Storage: Store the device in its protective pouch in a cool, dry place when not in use. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
- Avoid Moisture: Do not expose the device to water or high humidity.
