- Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 160 kg (352 lbs). This includes occupants, gear, and any accessories.
- Never use the kayak under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Be aware of weather conditions and water currents. Do not use in strong winds, rough waters, or during thunderstorms.
- Always inform someone of your paddling plans, including your route and estimated return time.
- Inspect the kayak for any damage or leaks before each use. Ensure all valves are properly sealed.
- Children should only use the kayak under strict adult supervision.
- Avoid sharp objects and abrasive surfaces that could puncture or damage the kayak.
Setup
1. Unpacking and Preparation
Unroll the kayak on a clean, flat surface free of sharp objects. Ensure all components are present: kayak hull, inflatable seats, stability fins, foot pump, and paddle.
2. Inflation
Locate the inflation valves on the kayak. The Roatan 376 typically has multiple air chambers for safety. Inflate each chamber evenly using the provided foot pump until the kayak is firm to the touch but not overinflated. Refer to the pressure indicators if available on the kayak or pump. Overinflation can damage the seams.

3. Seat Installation
Inflate the two inflatable seats. Position them inside the kayak. The seats are adjustable and can be configured for one or two persons. Secure the seats using the straps and D-rings provided inside the kayak for optimal comfort and stability.
4. Fin Attachment
Attach the stability fins to the designated slots on the underside of the kayak. Ensure they are securely locked in place. These fins are crucial for tracking and stability in the water.
5. Paddle Assembly
Assemble the two-piece paddle by connecting the shaft sections. Ensure the connection is secure. Adjust the paddle length if possible for comfortable paddling.

Operating
1. Launching
Carry the inflated kayak to the water's edge. Ensure the area is clear of sharp objects. Gently slide the kayak into the water, making sure the fins do not drag on the bottom.
2. Entering the Kayak
Carefully step into the kayak, maintaining a low center of gravity. Distribute your weight evenly. If paddling with two people, coordinate entry to avoid tipping.
3. Paddling Techniques
Hold the paddle with both hands, slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Use your core muscles for propulsion, not just your arms. For forward motion, alternate strokes on each side of the kayak. To turn, paddle on one side only or use sweep strokes.
4. Maneuvering and Stability
The integrated fins on the underside of the kayak significantly enhance tracking and stability, making it easier to paddle in a straight line. Be mindful of your movements to maintain balance, especially in choppy water.
5. Seating Configuration
The kayak can be used by one or two persons. Adjust the seat positions as needed for optimal balance and comfort depending on the number of occupants.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
After each use, rinse the kayak thoroughly with fresh water to remove salt, sand, and dirt. Use a mild soap if necessary. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
2. Drying
Completely dry the kayak, inside and out, before deflating and storing. This prevents mildew growth and material degradation. Air dry in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight, which can damage the PVC material over time.
3. Storage
Deflate the kayak by opening all valves. Once deflated, fold or roll the kayak neatly. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, and pests. Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the folded kayak.

4. Repair
In case of small punctures, use a repair kit designed for PVC inflatables. Follow the instructions provided with the repair kit. For larger damage, professional repair may be necessary.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Kayak loses air quickly | Loose valve cap; Puncture; Valve defect | Ensure all valve caps are tightly closed. Check for punctures using soapy water (bubbles indicate a leak) and repair with a patch kit. Contact customer support if valve is defective. |
| Kayak is unstable or difficult to steer | Insufficient inflation; Fins not installed or damaged; Uneven weight distribution | Ensure kayak is fully inflated to recommended pressure. Verify fins are securely attached. Distribute weight evenly inside the kayak. |
| Difficulty inflating kayak | Pump not connected properly; Valve stuck; Pump malfunction | Ensure pump hose is securely attached to the valve. Check if the valve is clear of debris. Inspect pump for damage. |
