Setup

Before operating your dehumidifier, please follow these important setup steps:

  1. Unpacking and Placement: Carefully remove the dehumidifier from its packaging. It is recommended to let the unit stand upright for at least 24 hours before plugging it in to allow the refrigerant to settle. Place the dehumidifier on a level surface in the desired location, ensuring adequate space around the unit for proper airflow.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the efficient and long-lasting performance of your dehumidifier.

  • Emptying the Water Bucket: When the water collection bucket is full, the unit will automatically shut off and an indicator light will illuminate. Carefully remove the bucket and empty the collected water. Reinsert the bucket securely to resume operation.
  • Continuous Drainage: For continuous operation without needing to empty the bucket, you can connect a standard garden hose to the drain outlet at the back of the unit. Ensure the hose is sloped downwards for gravity drainage.

  • Cleaning the Air Filter: The dehumidifier features a removable, reusable mesh filter located at the back of the unit. A 'Clean Filter' reminder indicator will alert you when it's time to clean the filter. Regularly clean the filter by rinsing it under warm water and allowing it to air dry completely before reinserting. This helps maintain air quality and unit efficiency.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your BLACK+DECKER BDT30WTA dehumidifier, consider the following general troubleshooting tips:

  • Unit Not Turning On: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet. Check if the water bucket is full and properly seated; the unit will not operate if the bucket is full or incorrectly placed.
  • No Dehumidification: Verify that the humidity setting is lower than the current room humidity. Check if the air filter is clean and not obstructed. Ensure there are no obstructions to the air intake or exhaust vents.
  • Unusual Noise: Check for any loose parts or obstructions. Ensure the unit is placed on a stable, level surface to minimize vibrations.
  • Water Leakage: If using continuous drainage, ensure the hose connection is secure and the hose is properly sloped to allow water to drain freely. Check the water bucket for cracks or improper seating.
