3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Pre-Installation Checks

• Verify that the meter size (3/4 inch, 20mm) matches your piping system.

• Ensure the installation location is easily accessible for reading and maintenance, protected from freezing, and away from direct heat sources.
• Confirm the direction of water flow in your pipe. The meter has an arrow indicating the correct flow direction.

3.2 Installation Steps

1. Turn off the main water supply to the property or the specific section where the meter will be installed.
2. Drain the water from the pipes to relieve pressure.
3. Cut the pipe at the desired installation point, ensuring enough space for the meter and any necessary fittings.
4. Install appropriate pipe fittings (e.g., unions, reducers if needed) to connect to the meter's brass threaded ends.
5. Apply thread sealant (e.g., PTFE tape) to the meter's threads.

• Black Digits: Represent the total volume of water consumed in cubic meters (m³). Read these digits from left to right.
• Red Digits/Pointers: Represent fractions of a cubic meter, usually in liters. The red pointers on the small dials indicate smaller units (e.g., 0.1 m³, 0.01 m³, 0.001 m³).
• Flow Indicator: A small star or gear-shaped wheel (often red) rotates when water is flowing through the meter, even at very low rates. This can be used to detect leaks.

To calculate water consumption over a period, subtract the previous reading from the current reading.
