Introduction

The EGO Power+ 15" String Trimmer with Rapid Reload head is designed for efficient and convenient trimming of weeds and grass. It features a 15-inch cutting swath and professional-grade 0.095 inch cutting line, making quick work of yard clean-ups. This trimmer is compatible with all EGO ARC Lithium™ batteries, offering powerful performance for various outdoor tasks.

Safety Information

Always read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating the string trimmer. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

• Eye Protection: Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1.
• Hearing Protection: Wear hearing protection when operating the trimmer.
• Foot Protection: Wear heavy, long pants and sturdy footwear.
• Clear Work Area: Keep bystanders, children, and pets at least 50 feet (15 meters) away from the operating area.
• Inspect Before Use: Before each use, inspect the trimmer for loose parts, damage, or wear. Ensure the cutting line is properly installed and the guard is securely attached.
• Avoid Wet Conditions: Do not operate the trimmer in wet conditions or rain.
• Proper Grip: Maintain a firm grip on both handles during operation.
• Battery Safety: Use only EGO 56V ARC Lithium batteries. Do not expose batteries to water or extreme temperatures.

Setup

1. Attaching the Guard

1. Align the guard with the mounting holes on the trimmer head.
2. Secure the guard using the provided screws. Ensure it is firmly attached to prevent debris from being thrown towards the operator.

2. Attaching the Auxiliary Handle

1. Slide the auxiliary handle onto the trimmer shaft.
2. Adjust the handle to a comfortable operating position, typically around waist height.
3. Tighten the handle clamp securely.

3. Installing the Battery

1. Ensure the battery is fully charged.
2. Slide the battery pack into the battery port on the trimmer until it clicks into place.
3. To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery out.

4. Loading Cutting Line (Rapid Reload Head)

The Rapid Reload head simplifies line replacement:

1. Align the arrows on the trimmer head with the arrows on the housing.
2. Insert a new length of 0.095-inch spiral-twist cutting line through the eyelets until an equal amount protrudes from both sides.
3. Twist the Rapid Reload head clockwise to wind the line into the spool.

Operating Instructions

1. Starting the Trimmer

1. Ensure the battery is securely installed.
2. Press the safety lock-off button.
3. Squeeze the trigger to start the trimmer.

2. Adjusting Speed

The EGO Power+ String Trimmer features variable speed control. Apply more pressure to the trigger for higher speed and less pressure for lower speed, allowing you to match the power to the task.

3. Trimming Techniques

• Sweeping: Move the trimmer head from side to side, cutting small amounts of grass with each pass.
• Edging: Hold the trimmer at an angle to create a clean edge along sidewalks or driveways.
• Tapering: Angle the trimmer head to create a gradual cut, useful for blending trimmed areas with untrimmed ones.

4. Line Advancement

This model features a bump-head line advancement. To advance the line, lightly tap the trimmer head on the ground while the trimmer is running. The line will automatically extend to the proper length as determined by the line cut-off blade on the guard.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

• Always remove the battery before cleaning.
• Wipe down the trimmer with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Clear any grass clippings or debris from the guard and trimmer head.

2. Line Replacement

Refer to the "Loading Cutting Line (Rapid Reload Head)" section under Setup for detailed instructions on replacing the cutting line. Use only 0.095-inch diameter spiral-twist line for optimal performance.

3. Storage

• Store the trimmer in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Remove the battery from the trimmer before storing for extended periods.
• Keep out of reach of children.
