4. Operating Instructions

The CON5 digital controller provides precise control over your sauna's heating cycle.

4.1 Basic Operation

  1. Power On: Press the 'ON/OFF' button on the CON5 controller to activate the stove.
  2. Set Temperature: Use the 'Set Temperature' up/down arrows to select your desired sauna temperature, ranging from 104°F (40°C) to 194°F (90°C). The digital display will show the current room temperature and the set temperature.
  3. Set Time: Use the 'Set Time' up/down arrows to set the desired operating duration, up to 60 minutes.
  4. Heating Delay: The controller supports a heating delay function, allowing you to program the stove to start heating after up to 11 hours. Consult the controller's specific manual for detailed programming steps.
  5. Mode Selection: The 'Mode A/B' button may offer different operational modes. Refer to the CON5 controller's manual for specific mode functionalities.
  6. Wet or Dry Sauna: For a wet sauna experience, carefully sprinkle water over the hot sauna rocks. Do not pour large amounts of water at once.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your sauna stove.

  • Sauna Rocks: Periodically inspect sauna rocks for signs of crumbling or degradation. Replace any broken or worn-out rocks to maintain efficient heating and prevent damage to heating elements or the rock support plate.
  • Cleaning: Ensure the stove's exterior and the area around it are kept clean and free from debris. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the sauna room's ventilation is not obstructed, as this can affect stove performance and safety.

6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your sauna stove.

6.1 High-Temperature Cut-Off Activation

  • Symptom: Stove stops heating unexpectedly, and power is cut off.
  • Possible Cause: The internal temperature exceeded safe limits, triggering the high-temperature cut-off. This can be due to insufficient air circulation, improper rock placement, or a faulty sensor.
  • Solution: Allow the stove to cool down completely. Investigate the cause: check for blocked vents, ensure rocks are properly placed, and verify the sensor is clear. Once the cause is addressed and the stove is cool, press the reset button (usually a small red button located on the stove or controller, refer to specific diagrams).

6.2 Inaccurate Temperature Readings or Premature Shut-off

  • Symptom: Sauna room does not reach desired temperature, or the stove shuts off too early.
  • Possible Cause: The temperature sensor's location might be too close to the heating elements or in an area with poor air circulation, causing it to read a higher temperature than the actual room temperature.
  • Solution: Ensure the sensor is installed in a location that accurately reflects the overall sauna room temperature, away from direct heat or drafts. In some cases, improving air circulation within the sauna room (e.g., with a small fan) can help equalize temperatures around the sensor.

6.3 Stove Not Heating

  • Symptom: Stove is powered on, but heating elements do not activate.
  • Possible Cause: Circuit breaker tripped, wiring issue, or a faulty heating element.
  • Solution: Check your main electrical panel for a tripped circuit breaker. If the breaker is fine, inspect all wiring connections (this should be done by a qualified electrician). If the issue persists, contact customer support or a qualified technician.
