4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Preparing the Work Area

  • Ensure the concrete mix is consistent and ready for screeding.
  • Set up any necessary guides or forms to define the desired concrete level and boundaries.

4.2 Screeding and Leveling

  1. Grip the ergonomic handle firmly with both hands.
  2. Place the screed on the wet concrete surface.
  3. Utilize the built-in leveling vial to monitor the level of the surface as you work. The bubble in the vial should be centered to indicate a level surface.
  4. Move the screed across the concrete in a sawing motion, pushing excess concrete forward while simultaneously leveling the surface.
  5. For cutting, use the sharp edge of the screed. For floating and smoothing, use the rounded edge.
  6. Repeat passes as necessary until the desired level and finish are achieved.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Immediately after each use, clean any concrete residue from the screed. The powder-coated finish is designed to resist concrete sticking, making cleanup easier.
  • Use water and a stiff brush to remove all concrete. For stubborn areas, a plastic scraper may be used carefully to avoid damaging the finish.
  • Ensure the leveling vial is clean and free of debris for accurate readings.
  • The plastic end caps can be removed for thorough cleaning of the screed's interior if necessary.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Uneven Surface After Screeding

  • Issue: Concrete surface is not consistently level after screeding.
  • Possible Causes:
    • Handle clamps are loose, causing the handle to shift.
    • Leveling vial is obstructed or dirty, leading to inaccurate readings.
    • Inconsistent concrete mix or improper placement.
    • Screed not held level during operation.
  • Solution:
    • Ensure handle clamps are securely tightened before and during use.
    • Clean the leveling vial thoroughly.
    • Verify concrete consistency and proper placement techniques.
    • Maintain a steady, level posture while operating the screed, constantly monitoring the built-in vial.

6.2 Concrete Sticking to Screed

  • Issue: Concrete adheres excessively to the screed surface.
  • Possible Causes:
    • Screed not cleaned immediately after previous use.
    • Concrete mix is too dry or has an unusual consistency.
  • Solution:
    • Clean the screed thoroughly after every use.
    • Ensure the concrete mix has appropriate water content and consistency for screeding.
