Operating Instructions

Fueling the Grill

  • This grill is designed for use with charcoal only.
  • Place charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal on the charcoal grate at the bottom of the grill bowl.
  • Arrange charcoal for direct or indirect grilling as desired.
  • Ignite the charcoal using appropriate lighter fluid or a charcoal chimney starter. Allow coals to ash over before placing food on the cooking grate.

Heat Control

The grill features a rust-resistant adjustable metal air vent damper on the lid. This allows for heat management without needing to frequently open the lid. Adjust the damper to control airflow and thus the temperature inside the grill.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your Alpine Cuisine grill.

After Each Use

  • Allow the grill to cool completely.
  • Remove the cooking grate and charcoal grate. Clean them with a grill brush and warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  • Rotate the ash leak to direct ash into the ash catcher. Empty the ash catcher.
  • Wipe down the interior and exterior of the grill bowl and lid with a damp cloth.

Long-Term Care

  • The grill bowl is made of thickened porcelain enameled steel, which is durable and easy to clean. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.
  • Store the grill in a dry, covered area when not in use to protect it from the elements.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your grill, consider the following common solutions:

  • Difficulty lighting charcoal: Ensure charcoal is dry. Use sufficient lighter fluid or a chimney starter. Check for adequate airflow.
  • Temperature too low: Open the air vent damper further to increase airflow to the coals. Add more charcoal if necessary.
  • Temperature too high: Close the air vent damper partially to reduce airflow.
  • Uneven cooking: Ensure charcoal is evenly distributed. Rotate food on the grate for consistent heat exposure.
