4. Setup

4.1. Insert SIM Card and microSD Card

To make calls, send messages, and use mobile data, you need to insert a SIM card. You can also expand storage with a microSD card (sold separately).

  1. Locate the SIM card tray on the top edge of your device.
  2. Insert the ejection pin into the small hole on the tray to open it.
  3. Place the SIM card (and microSD card, if applicable) into the tray with the gold contacts facing down. Ensure proper orientation.
  4. Gently push the tray back into the slot until it clicks into place.

4.2. Charge the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the device battery.

  1. Connect the USB cable to the USB power adaptor.
  2. Plug the USB cable into the USB Type-C port at the bottom of your phone.
  3. Plug the power adaptor into a wall outlet.
  4. Once fully charged, disconnect the charger from the device and then from the outlet.

The default display resolution is Full HD+ and can be adjusted to Quad HD+ (WQHD+) in the device settings for enhanced visual clarity.

5.2. Camera Usage

Capture photos and videos with the high-resolution cameras:

  • Rear Camera: 12 MP OIS AF for detailed photos and stable videos.
  • Front Camera: 8 MP AF for clear selfies and video calls.

To open the camera, tap the Camera app icon or quickly press the Power button twice. Tap the shutter button to take a photo or the record button to start/stop video recording. Swipe left or right on the screen to switch between camera modes.

5.3. Battery Management

The Galaxy S8 is powered by a 10nm processor, which contributes to efficient battery usage. To optimize battery life:
