Introduction
Welcome to the Galt Slime Lab Science Kit. This kit provides materials and instructions for conducting various slime-related experiments, encouraging early STEM learning and scientific exploration. Please read this manual thoroughly before beginning any experiments.
Safety Information
WARNING: Small Parts. Adult Supervision Required.
- Always perform experiments under direct adult supervision.
- Do not ingest any materials from the kit.
- Wash hands thoroughly before and after handling materials.
- Keep all materials away from eyes and mouth. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
- Protect your workspace with newspaper or a plastic sheet to prevent stains or damage.
- Store all components in their original containers or sealed bags when not in use.

Setup
- Prepare Your Workspace: Choose a clean, flat surface. Cover the area with newspaper or a plastic sheet to protect it from spills and stains.
- Gather Materials: Lay out all the components from the kit. Ensure you have access to water for mixing and cleaning.
- Read the Lab Book: Before starting any experiment, carefully read the instructions for that specific experiment in the included 16-page full-color Lab Book.
Experiments
The Galt Slime Lab includes 7 fun experiments. Follow the detailed instructions in your Lab Book for each experiment. Below is an overview of the types of experiments you can perform.
1. Make Your Own Slime
Use the "Make Your Own Slime Powder" and water to create custom slime.
- Pour the slime powder into one of the empty tubs.
- Add the specified amount of water (refer to the Lab Book for exact measurements).
- Stir thoroughly with a stirring stick until the mixture thickens and forms slime.
- Allow the slime to set for a few minutes before playing.

2. Make Your Own Putty
Create your own bouncy putty using the "Make Your Own Putty Powder" and water.
- Add the putty powder to an empty tub.
- Mix with the recommended amount of water.
- Stir until a putty-like consistency is achieved. Knead with hands if necessary.
- Test its bounciness by rolling it into a ball and dropping it.
3. Create a Gummy Bug
Use the "Gummy Bug Powder" and the bug mold to create a unique gummy creature.
- Prepare the gummy bug mixture according to the Lab Book instructions.
- Pour the mixture into the bug mold.
- Allow it to set completely.
- Carefully remove the gummy bug from the mold and add wiggly eyes.

4. Glow-in-the-Dark Slimy Alien
Utilize the "Glow Slime" and the alien mold to make a glowing alien.
- Press the pre-made Glow Slime into the alien mold.
- Ensure it fills all parts of the mold.
- Carefully remove the alien.
- Expose the alien to light, then observe its glow in a dark room. Add wiggly eyes for character.
5. The Funny Noise Pot
Explore sound with the included Noise Pot.
- Place some slime or putty into the Noise Pot.
- Press down on the slime/putty with your finger to create amusing sounds.
- Experiment with different amounts and types of slime for varied sounds.
6. Testing Slime Properties
Compare the properties of different slimes and putties you create.
- Observe elasticity: How far can each slime stretch?
- Test bounciness: Which putty bounces highest?
- Examine texture: How do they feel different?
- Record your observations in the Lab Notepad.
7. Creative Slime Mixing
Combine different slimes or add elements to create new textures and colors.
- Mix small amounts of different colored slimes to see what new colors you can make.
- Experiment with adding small, non-toxic household items (e.g., glitter, tiny beads - with adult permission) to change texture.
- Always ensure any added items are safe and will not damage the slime or pose a hazard.

Maintenance and Storage
- Cleaning: After each use, clean all tools and containers with water. Wipe down your workspace.
- Slime Storage: Store all slimes and putties in their airtight containers to prevent them from drying out.
- Kit Storage: Keep the entire kit in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
- Disposal: Dispose of used or dried-out slime and putty in household waste. Do not pour down drains.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Slime is too sticky/runny. | Incorrect water-to-powder ratio. | Refer to the Lab Book for precise measurements. For sticky slime, try adding a tiny pinch more powder. For runny slime, add a tiny bit more powder and mix well, or let it sit for a longer period. |
| Putty is not bouncy. | Insufficient kneading or incorrect water ratio. | Knead the putty for a longer duration. Ensure the correct amount of water was used as per the Lab Book. |
| Gummy bug/alien won't hold shape. | Not enough setting time or incorrect mixture. | Allow more time for the mixture to set in the mold. Double-check the recipe in the Lab Book. |
| Glow slime isn't glowing. | Not sufficiently charged with light. | Expose the glow slime to a bright light source (e.g., lamp, sunlight) for several minutes, then observe in a completely dark room. |
