2. General Safety Instructions

Always observe basic safety precautions when using electric tools to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Keep this instruction manual for future reference.

2.1 Work Area Safety

  • Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
  • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

2.2 Electrical Safety

  • Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
  • Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
  • Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

2.3 Personal Safety

  • Always wear eye protection. Use safety glasses, goggles, or a face shield.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection when necessary.
  • Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts.
  • Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool.

3. Setup and Assembly

3.1 Charging the Battery

  1. Ensure the charger is connected to a standard power outlet.
  2. Slide the battery pack onto the charger until it clicks into place.
  3. The charging indicator light on the charger will show the charging status. Refer to the charger's specific instructions for light indications.
  4. Once fully charged, remove the battery from the charger. A full charge typically takes approximately 2 hours.

3.2 Installing/Removing the Battery Pack

  • To Install: Align the battery pack with the receptacle on the tool handle and slide it in until it locks securely.
  • To Remove: Press the battery release button (usually located on the battery pack) and slide the battery out of the tool.

3.3 Installing/Removing Drill Bits or Accessories

  1. Ensure the tool is switched off and the battery pack is removed before changing accessories.
  2. Grip the rear half of the chuck and rotate the front half counter-clockwise until the chuck jaws are open wide enough to accept the bit.
  3. Insert the drill bit or accessory fully into the chuck.
  4. Grip the rear half of the chuck and rotate the front half clockwise to tighten the chuck jaws securely around the bit.
  5. Pull on the bit to ensure it is firmly seated.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Selecting Operating Mode

The FMC626 offers multiple operating modes:

  • Screwing Mode: Rotate the collar to the screw symbol. Adjust the torque setting as needed for the material and screw size.
  • Drilling Mode: Rotate the collar to the drill symbol. This mode is for general drilling without impact.
  • Impact Drilling Mode: Rotate the collar to the hammer symbol. Use this mode for drilling into masonry or concrete.

4.2 Variable Speed Control

The tool features a variable speed trigger. Pressing the trigger further increases the speed. This allows for precise control during starting and when working with different materials.

4.3 Forward/Reverse Rotation

A forward/reverse selector switch is located above the trigger. Push the switch to the left for forward rotation (drilling/screwing in) and to the right for reverse rotation (removing screws/bits). Ensure the switch is in the center position to lock the trigger for safety when not in use.

4.4 Drilling Techniques

  • General Drilling: Apply steady, even pressure. Allow the tool to do the work.
  • Impact Drilling: For hard materials like concrete, use the impact drilling mode. Apply firm, consistent pressure.
  • Screwing: Start with low speed and gradually increase. Use the appropriate torque setting to prevent over-tightening or stripping screws.
